PS3 DISC PROBLEM-PS3 NOT READING DISCS?
well, i was installing saints row 2 to my ps3 and the installation bar stayed on 11% for like 30 minutes and after that a message from the system came saying that there was an error and that i should restart the ps3 and try again. I did this but this time the disc icon did not appear in the xmb, but the loading icon did. the loading icon was still there even after 25 minutes so then i knew there was some sort of problem. I checked out the internet and everyone said that they just replaced their ps3s by calling customer service (ps3) and thats it. but my problem is that where i live (you would definitely not like to know), the ps3 is not officially released. Any ideas?
P.S: NO other discs are being read, not blu--rays, DVDs, CDs, or games.

Your blu-ray drive is shot. Unfortunately, this means you will have to call Sony and have them send you your coffin.
If you're still under warranty, hurrah! You don't have to pay. If not, you can expect a nice $150 chunk of change to come out of your wallet.
Turn around is about 2-3 weeks.
I'm pretty sure Sony will send it to you where your PS3 was not officially released. If it's a foreign (i.e. different region) console, you might be sending it overseas.

I believe you damaged the laser that reads your discs.
You need to get it replaced, not the whole PS3, just the laser part.
It happened to me, and it didn't read anything at all but be gentle on your PS3 next time.
& what the hell.. ? The PS3 was released late '06 .........
