  • What would you archery experts value this at?

A Bear(R) Alaskan compound bow with a 30" draw length and 70# draw weight. It has a laminated wood body with all the mounting points for a sight and quiver, but never had a sight mounted on it. Comes with a case, a waist quiver, practice arrowheads, and a forearm protector.

I'm beginning to look into archery (I'm already a USAA-certified Level 1 instructor, I figure I should practice in the sport too. :p) and I was offered this on CraigsList as a trade. I'm just trying to see if it's a fair value for what I'm offering. It looks to be in pretty good shape based on the pictures he provided. I did quick Google search and couldn't find much on it, so any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Help with redox reaction?

In my chem course last semester, we covered redox, but only practiced acidic reactions extensively, so I'm a little lost when it comes to basic reactions.

How would I do this problem:

NaCLo is used to oxidize Mn^2+ to MnO4^- in basic colutions. ClO- is reduced to Cl-. What is the balanced net ionic chemical equation for this reaction?

    Thank you!

  • Will Guitar Ceter match a sale price?

I bought an Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro at GC 10 days ago for $499.99, but found it on sale on MusiciansFriend.com for $419.16 with free standard shipping. I know GC will match competitor's prices for 30 days, but I wasn't sure if that included sales prices.

  • I cant update Win 7 without getting startup repair and I'm at a loss?

Hey all. I'm running a gateway NV79C59u notebook and every time I try to update Windows, it will always revert to a startup repair attempt when I restart it following the update. Since that never fixes anything, I've had to resort to turning off automatic updates which kind of bugs me considering a purchased copy of Windows 7 should be able to get the updates.

I've run several virus scans with MalwareBytes, but nothing's come up thus far, so I'm assuming it's not a virus. I've tried running an extended memory scan (as offered through advanced recovery options), but it always hangs at 21% through the first test.

I've run some other text which, after a quick skim through, has the following text:

Boot critical file d:\ci.dll is corrupt

[more text] Error Code = 0xa

I'm guessing that has something to do with the problem, but it hasn't been enough to lead me anywhere. I've had this annoyance for two weeks now, and it's starting to irritate me at this point.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Does using a wi-fi connection count towards data usage on T-Mobile?

Hey all. Just picked up an HTC Sensation 4G today, and was wondering if using a wi-fi connection counted towards my oh-so limited 200MB/mo data plan. I take that it shouldn't, but I'd like to know for sure.

    Thanks!

  • Whats the average fuel economy of an 05 Subaru Legacy GT?

Im heading off to college soon, and (as much as it pains me to) I need a more reliable car than my 98 Camaro to handle the commute through LA traffic.

I know that Subaru is pretty famous for its reliability, and Ive been considering a Legacy GT since I started thinking about how I would even get to college. To ease the pain of having to let my Camaro go, I figured that I could at least get something with a little pep, and the Legacy is the perfect car for that. I wouldnt complain about 250hp I4 in a 3500lb sedan.

But, what it comes down to, is what it can meet in terms of fuel economy. Right now, my Camaro can get 16 mpg city and 22ish combined, running on regular. While it wouldnt necessarily be cost effective to switch to a car that runs on premium, I am willing to take the hit since its not like its going to break the bank. However, thats only if it can come comparatively close to what Im doing right now. If I have to start paying a considerably higher amount of money for gas, Im going to have to pass on it.

Any input is also greatly appreciated.

  • What is the appeal of a hatchback?

I always see automotive magazines raving about hatchbacks as opposed to their sedan counterparts, but I was wondering what the appeal of a hatchback is.

I guess what it really comes down to is what your take on them is? If you drive one, why?

Im not hating on the hatchback either. Im just curious as to what the pros and cons are.

  • Need help with my laptop!?

So this isn't your basic "Microsoft Office won't run!" help. I need professional advice on this matter.

I have a Gateway M6866 laptop that recently obtained a virus that was giving me consistent BSOD's whenever I ran an .exe file (sans explorer.exe) whenever I wasn't running Safe Mode with Networking. When I was operating under Safe Mode, things were a little more stable, but it was still prone to BSOD's. I tried running several anti-virus software to no avail. I then decided that I would do a factory reset, and while moving over files to my external hard drive, the system gave a blue screen and shut down.

I figured that it was nothing, and leave it alone for a while. When I go back to it, I turn it on, I get the power going through it, the fan starts to run and the screen stays black. A very short while later, the fan slows, if not stops, and the screen stays black. My first thought was that it was the hard drive since it was writing at the time of the crash, so I go out and purchase a new one, install it, pop in an XP disc, only to have the same problem.

I've since tried a various number of troubleshooting methods, but again to no avail, and at this point, I'm at a loss. I now think that it might be the processor, but my tech knowledge ends at swapping out parts, so it might as well be another shot in the dark.

I already reformatted the other hard drive and put it in my PlayStation (that probably should have been the cue that it wasn't the hard drive), so there's really no going back at this point. I think I might just take it into a repair shop, but I'm not sure how much that would cost. There's a point where it would get to be too much, especially considering I'm intending to get a new laptop in only a few months for college use.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

  • How would I solve this indefinite integral using substitution?

What I've to work with is this:

    ∫√[1-(√x)] dx

I need to show my work (so using a TI-89 is out), and everything I've tried leaves me with two variables.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Where can I buy a replacement charger cord for my iPod Nano 1G?

So, we're going back to the magical year of 2006 on this one, but to make a long story short, my brother broke the charger cord for my 1G Nano, and considering how outdated it is, I'm at a bit of a loss as to where I would get a replacement.

    Any input would be appreciated.

  • What's the difference between the coat used for a suit and for a tux?

I have a 3-button Billy London coat and slacks that I picked up for my senior picture back in July. Very trendy, slim fit, and whatnot. Not your typical, old man's suit.

Our winter formal is coming up at school, and since I'm really trying to keep costs down, I was wondering if I could double the suit as a tux, provided I had the proper shirt and a bow tie (and maybe a vest)?

    Suit looks like this:

  • Why does my cat bite me?

It's not like a full on "I'm totally pissed at you, so take this!" bite, it's usually when she's on my lap getting pet that she'll take a little nibble at my arm. I know that licks are the equivalent to kisses, but what's a bite then?

  • Would I be okay if I didn't wear my retainer for a few hours a day?

I just got my braces off earlier this week after having them for two years, and I'm a little annoyed at how my speech changes with them on.

I was told to wear them 24/7, but would I be okay if I didn't wear them at school? I mean, I'd still wear then any other time of the day, just not during classes when I need to talk. I'm really afraid to not wear them considering my canine teeth came a long way down, and I'm in near constant fear of my teeth shifting back (which would be NO GOOD AT ALL), but I noticed that all my friends stopped wearing theirs 24/7 a couple weeks in, and they're all doing fine.

  • What exactly are my chances?

I went to prom with the girl I like. While at said prom, I make no move whatsoever, and the night ends in the most anticlimactic fashion possible (in retrospect, it's kind of hilarious).

I get home, and I find out that she's liked me for a while (apparently, our parents had been talking after we left her house), which I kind of suspected before, but never really knew for sure. Since then, I've made an effort to talk to her more, say hi to her almost every day, and just try to get closer to her in general, but it's been kind of hard since we only have one period together, so there hasn't been too much progress.

I've asked her to hang out on a few occasions. The first couple times, she was busy (she really was), and when I asked her to sit with me at this school thing, she said yes, so we did. She had to leave for a few minutes, and when she came back, she sat in the same spot, even though she didn't have to.

That happened last week. On Friday, I'm going to officially ask her out, instead of just dropping hints. Given the info above, what are my chances of getting a yes from her? I'm thinking pretty high considering she's still sending me a few signals, but I'm not entirely sure since it's been like 6 weeks since prom, and a lot can happen in 6 weeks.

  • California Drivers License Test tomorrow. Help?

I'm going in for my driver's license test tomorrow, and I'm a little confused about one thing.

Let's say the speed limit is 40, but the flow of traffic is going faster than that (maybe 45). Am I expected to stay at the speed limit or go as fast as the flow of traffic?

I heard that if I go 10 or over the speed limit, I automatically fail, so I'm guessing anything under is alright, but I don't want my score to be hurt because I didn't know.

And any tips would be great! Also, I'm going to the DMV in Whittier, so if any of you have gone there, any advice would also be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Is the DMV open on Saturdays in California?

Or even Fridays for that matter?

I know that they were supposed to be closed for Fridays for budget cuts, but I'm not sure if that's still in effect.

  • What's it mean if a girl keeps looking at you?

Right, for those of you nightly browsers, this is a repost since i only got one [bad] answer.

Okay, let's see if I can't keep this short, shall we?

There's this girl in 4 of my periods, and just about everyday, I'll catch her throwing a few looks my way when I look in her general direction.

More specifically, I was looking more directly at her today when someone (who sits behind her) was speaking in english. My eyesight wasn't focused on her, but I could see that she tried to make eye contact and quickly turned her eyes away.

Yesterday, a few of us were talking in history, and I turned to join in, and I'm almost positive I saw her looking right at me.

And earlier this [school] year on a couple of occasions I've seen her talking to a friend (different friend on both occasions), and they both turned towards my direction smiling.

From this, it would seem like she likes me, but I can't help but feel like that's kind of rudimentary thinking. In fact, if anything, I can't help but feel like I'm over-analyzing this a lot more than I should be.

    Thoughts? Opinions?

  • What would happen if an officer caught me driving with a friend in the car?

Right, so I'll hopefully have my license in about a month, and naturally, like any other 16 year old kid, I'm going to want to go places with my friends.

In California, we're not allowed to drive with any other passenger in the car under the age of 25 without an adult until we've had our license for a year (or something like that).

If I were to be caught by an officer while a companion was in the car, what is the worst and best case scenario I could be looking at?
