Firstly, before finding the slope, you have to know what the x and y coordinates are in a given point.
In (0,4), 0 is the x-coordinate because that is where the point is on the x-axis. 4 is the y-coordinate because that is where the point is on the y-axis.
Now, to find the slope of a line, you want to use this formula if you are given to points on the line-for example (-2,0), (0,4)
y2-y1
______
x2-x1
That means you take the y-coordinate of the second given point, which is 4, and subtract it from the y-coordinate of the first given point, which is 0.
Then you take the x-coordinate of the second given point- in this case 0, and subtract it from the x-coordinate of the first given point- in this case -2.
so now we have
4-0
____ = 4/2 = 2
0--2
Thus, the slope for the first problem is 2.
So, for the total list of answers, its
2.
---something---
-2
-4/3
2
For this one, the answer is undefined because your slope formula gives you 4/0, which makes the slope undefined. If your y-axis coordinate was 0, the slope would be zero. For example, if you had 0/4 from your slope formula, it would be zero slope.
So, your answer is UNDEFINED
-5/7
1
-5/3
I hope this helped :)
