Pregnancy and Hepatitis C?

I am 27 years old and I have been recently diagnosed with Hepatitis C (contracted from a blood transfusion when I was born). It was found thru a routine pre-pregnancy blood test. My doctor said that if my liver biopsy comes back ok (a 1 or 2) then I will be allowed to get pregnant and give birth before having to go through the HepC treatment. How will this affect my unborn child, will they contract the disease too or are they somehow immune while in utero? Since this diagnosis is new to me I am stillsearching for info and learning what I can. Thanks for your input.

Getting cured of hep. C is like getting treatment for a cold. You can get hep. c from a paper cut, falling down and scratching your knee or arm, cutting your self shaving. Most people have it and don't even know. If eat properly, drink plenty of water and keep your self clean it will usually keep itself in check. I have had it for most of my life and I have had doctors tell me to get treatment I refuse it. The treatment makes you sick for a long time and week. In people I know who have had treatment apear to suffer more than if they had not got it to begin with. Plus you can and properly will get it again!

Source(s): I have had it for 43 years of my life.
