What if science found evidence of god?
What would you think, of the human species, if it was proven that we do have a spirit, and we continue after death. Would you consider it amazing? Would you even care? Would your outlook on life change? What would you think of god actually being a existing being?
This is talking as if evidence was found.

this always seemed backwards to me...
religious beliefs are formed to explain what one doesn't understand... what starts as curiosity becomes an inability to be content with not having an answer to everything... science is constantly giving proof that contradicts the explanations religions have given (think creationism vs evolution)
maybe the reason this and related questions are so popular is because they're so ridiculously impossible... providing a scientific explanation for everything credited to god is easy enough, but it doesn't count, right? the concept of god itself is so incredibly vague and varied, how could you possibly prove or disprove it?
i guess i went a bit off track there... let's start again...
religious beliefs are formed to explain what one doesn't understand... so evidence of god would be... unexplained phenomenon?

Actually, it should be pretty easy to detect evidence of a god if there were one. If the data were different, very different actually, then yes I would not be an atheist. The problem is that the things that should easily prove a divine existence keep coming without any data that supports that point of view. It would not be sufficient if a "single" piece of evidence were found, there is always the possibility of measurement error. It would have to be persistent data. But as I said, given the quality of instrumentation and the powers attributed to the world's various gods then detecting one in action should have already happened.
As it does happen the only people who seem to be able to detect a god are believers and not believers with instrumentation available.

All the evidence is against yet christians choose to ignore it!!!
In simple terms academia states that in the absence of proof of the existence of something it must be deemed not to exist until verifiable proof is found - thus god is held not to exist pending some sort of verifiable evidence.
There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one!!! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!!
He was supposed to have been a huge problem to the Romans and produced wonderful miracles but still not one contemporary record?
Even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!!
At best he was an amalgam of those others!!
Pilot is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter!!
The Roman Emperor Constantine produced the bible and he was a pagan not god!!! He also organized Christianity into the Holly Roman Catholic Church!! Not in Israel or any of the countries of supposed origin but entirely Italian!!
Not one word of it is contemporary with the period and was not written until many years after the period the story is set in!!
What a wonder full disinformation and deception campaign he waged against his Christian enemies - so good in fact that Christians are still following the deception to this day!!!
The simple fact is that the first person to come up with even the smallest shred of evidence for a god is going to become a multi millionaire overnight!!
Good hunting!!

It would obviously depend on the answers that we would receive. For example if there was life after death, I would try to live a better life in hopes of having a better afterlife. If not then I would make this life worth while since it would be the only one I have.
If a god existed then how god reacts to our actions will determine how we behave. For example, I don't actively pray, but if I was aware that god was a physical being and demand prayer, I would be sure to comply.

hhmm
these are all different questions
if science prove god, great, at least that ones out of the way
if science prove spirit, great at least that ones out of the way
if science proved an afterlife, great at least that ones out of the way
however JUST having evidence for god, does NOT mean they are evidence of spirit/soul nor afterlife
they are all separate issues
of course id consider it amazing
of course id care
maybe, maybe not, i cant say, i presume new information, as it often does, leads to psychological, emotional and view changes
id think, so a god exists, probably still not the religious version, as that is after all impossible and human fiction

Science is the evidence of God. Science is the unbiased study of the universe that God created. The laws of nature and God are one, or else one or the other is non-existent.
But, God is non-existent since existence is supposedly that which God creates or brings into existence. And that is not what God is; God is a creator not the created. But people can create gods and all the evidence, especially writings, for their gods or god.

If it was proven that our neural energy changes form and continues after death, that would be proof of an afterlife, not God. It is perfectly conceivable to me for there to be an afterlife without God. So while I would begin to wonder how fast I'll be able to travel as a spirit (Alpha Centauri here I come!!), I would still be an atheist. Proof of an afterlife is not proof of God, and I for one have never said it is.

To me, science is merely the act of observing God's power by examining His creation.
You ask me what I would think of God actually being an existing being? I'm past that part. Having personally experienced Him, I already know He exists.
More importantly, God is able to answer the key questions of humanity that science is not able to address.
Why am I here?
Who am I?
Where did I come from?
Where am I going?
God bless.

I do not think god will ever be found in an objective or empirical sense. God is something you got to find with in yourself. Maybe one day science will have mathematical abstractions of what god is, but that is not the same as pure evidence. It would be like if you were to watch someone have an orgasm objectively, instead of experiencing it yourself.

I would be happy if that happened, i really would. I'd no longer be an atheist of course, but man wouldn't that just make life simple and grand. I'd imagine there would have to be alot of explaining to do. Like what kind of god it is. Good god, bad god. I guess i wouldn't be so happy with a bad god. But either way, easy street.
