No. We live in a white dominated society. I know a lot of white folks like to say race don't matter but it does. Many whites are upset because Obama won. He has a very pretty, intelligent black wife and he's half white. If you put in the mix a black man that look like Wesley Snipes very dark skinned with a white women, it would have been hell on earth. It's doesn't matter blacks very fair Jennifer Beals, Mariah Carey to blue black. We are still treated like second class citizens. Look at the Obama(s) bashing on here. It would be 1000 x worst if a black man had a white wife. =)

NO F$#@! WAY!! First I'll speak for myself, that wouldn't have mattered to me at all. As long as he was still the informed and educated capable candidate, he would've still got my vote. With that said, the truth is due to the nature of America, that would've been impossible. Because of his dark ethnic look and beauty he would've been too black for whites, and because of the hypocrisy in a lot of the black community (especially among females when it comes to this in particular) he would've been too white for blacks. No matter how great his relationship would be with his wife, how great, productive, and stable their family life would be, on both sides of this coin, him having a white wife would've definitely been a deal breaker. It's sad but true. The good thing is that Obama's Presidency have touched many people and I have faith that Americans as a people are steadily progressing from this mind and heart set.

Obama was elected, NOT because he is black, but because MOST Americans thought he was the right guy to lead. SIMPLE AS THAT. The same reason we elected 42 white presidents in the past, not because of their skin color.

If you voted for Obama because of his skin color, or against, I ask you to leave America. This is The United States of America in 2009. Not AmeriKKKa in 1880's-60's.

The majority of this country are white people, and VOTED for Obama. It was the "White Scholars", "Educators", who introduced the idea if you are even less than half quarter black you are FULL Black. Now, they voted for FULL black man as they defined it in their books for centuries. I voted for Obama because of his work, ethics and policies. The same way I would vote for Hillary if she was the nominee, the same reason I will vote for anybody that I share a common political policies regardless of their ethnicity, religion, and so.

I found his message that growing up in a mixed household made him understand on a very personal level how to understand and bring people together a very strong one. I think if you could abstract from that, and given that everyone hated Bush and McCain and Palin were pure idiots, I think if Obama could have made it. But it is, I think, impossible to tell. I would have been the first to say, and I did say, that there is no way this country is going to elect a person of color to the presidency, and they did. So, perhaps anything is possible.
