Do you agree with this statement that "Gay is the new Black."?

I mean in a Civil Rights sort of way.

    Here is how it works....

    the smoker has become the new gay..... as someone pointed out they needed the gay's out of the closet so the smokers could go in... the Gays are the new blacks fighting for their rights.... however the blacks are not ready to give up their affirmation action.... but excuse me if a black men is president then affirmative action should no longer apply to the blacks..... just to gays and women........

    No. They are both civil rights issues, but although gay people should have the rights of everyone else, the circumstances are not equivalent. We never enslaved gay folks, and they have been discriminated against for longer I think than Black folks.

    Government-backed discrimination against either is wrong, but they are not equivalent situations.
