Will you smile for no reason?
I was on a crowded train yesterday and I couldn’t find a single smile on the faces of people, they are either busying talking to their mobile, texting with their mobile, playing digital game, snoring, glaring at the ceiling/floor or shaking their heads with the Ipod on.
I start smiling. A friend of mine stares at me and asked “what”.
Do I need a what or why to smile?
We are here to learn, share and see for ourselves what our fellow brothers, sisters, friends and love ones have to say.
Chuck you ego aside and please don’t crave for the petty, silly 10 points for it will not help you in your life.
Be free to express.
For those down thumb you got, please do not be bothered by it at all as it served no purpose here.

I may have the upper hand in picking a best answer.

I always smile for any reason at all. Sometimes i say "Good morning" to a stranger, just to be polite and smile at them too, but i have realised that its usualy only the older generation that smile and speak back, and they dont always either. There shouldn't have to be any particular reason to smile, it costs nothing, makes us feel good and might brighten up a dull day :) :) :D SmiLeS 4u Xavier my friend...

Generally, yes. Even the smile you did on the train was for a reason-because no one else was.
Personally, I'll smile as a greeting, even to strangers. I have yet to get a negative response to it.

No you don't. But people will think you're weird when you don't.
I get it too.
But who cares, right? At least you're happy.
For some reason though, no ones ever happy on public transport. It's kinda sad. You'd think people would be willing to even talk to each other in that situation.. hmm.

For me there is always a reason, usually because I think of something or remember something funny. To some this may seem like out of the blue, or for no reason.

Smiles that are sincere are like gifts, from the giver to the receiver. Personally I do not give my smiles unless my spirit is moved to do so.

Smiling simply for no reason is just another usual part of a routine for me, whether in a train, cab or even just taking some walks...strolling along in parks, supermarket or mall.
When meeting eyes or face to face to a stranger who's actually doing also the smiling..without any particular reason at all..We slightly bow eachother's head to greet.
Yes, not only smiling....
But finding ourselves greeting eachother with no reason at all even if we are stranger to eachother. (here in this place)..^^

Happens to me too. If I smile at random strangers, more often than not I get a look that says 'what are you on' ... but it's the ones who smile back and seem genuinely pleasantly surprised that satisfy my reason for doing so.

Of course. I love it.
it's amazing experience. not only for me, but also for people around me.
try it .. you will notice that some people would smile back .. ( even if they have no idea why ) .. that's great and enough for me to keep it.
works best with kids, old people and babies :-)

You did a right and great thing by smiling my friend, keep it up. Joy is the very nature of being, inherent. Somehow we have lost moorings. No, no other reason be there to smile than being itself!

Yesterday I was feeling kinda inspired after Mass. Driving home, I noticed a woman in another car who was laughing as I drove by, and I realized how rare it is to see people doing anything but scowling into traffic or glassy-eyed and babbling on their phones.
More smiles, fewer sneers.
