Can anyone remember this cake! This cake was sold back in the day around 1963 at one of the wholesales stores.?

It was at one like wonderbread outlet or one of them I think it was called Spice Cake. It had icing on the top and I just loved it. I have been trying to find a recipe for one like this. Does anyone have any ideal of what i am talking about. Thanks

It was sold at A&P for years and years. It was even sold by Farmer Jack's when A&P bought out the company and took over their name. Farmer Jack is closed now so not sure where to find it now. I did happen to run into some very different items when I visited the Awery's Bakery. Just had a vanilla type icing on it and a spice cake with some raisins in it as I recall. try making a moist spice cake and add a few raisins and make changes if you need to next time.

Source(s): Worked for the grocery for over 20 years and put up bakery for months.

    I do remember.

If I were trying to recreate that recipe I would start with a spice cake mix and cream cheese frosting and go from there.

Experiment until you get it right and then share it with everyone. We may not have been quite so conscious about sugar and white flour and such in the 60s but we did enjoy some good old comfort food.
