  • Transferring real property between relatives?

I would like to transfer my mother's house into my name, would it be better to use a grant deed, a trust transfer or a joint tenancy? My mother is going to need skilled nursing care in the future and her house is her only asset, the cost of care will eat up her estate in no time, but if she has no assets then she will be completely covered by Medicare or Medi-Cal.

  • Alarm will not allow me to start my car.?

I have a 1998 Monte Carlo with an after market alarm (with alarm valet hanging under the dash). My battery drained from a light being left on (this has happened before). This time I could not jump start my car because of alarm. I had to disconnect my battery from the terminal in order to charge it up without alarm sounding off. AAA could not jump it because the alarm refused to allow the connection. Now the battery is fully charged but I can not start the engine because the stupid alarm activates the moment the battery is reconnected to the terminal and will not allow the engine to turn over. What to do? IF disconnecting the alarm is the only answer, please tell me how. I have had to charge my battery several times in the past few years and have never had trouble with the alarm.

  • Nevada Unemployment Benefits?

Is there a time frame within which the State of Nevada must schedule an appeals hearing? A man filed a claim for benefits. His claim was denied based upon a disputed date of separation. The true date of separation was determined, a telephone interview was performed and the benefits coordinator informed the man that an appeal would be set to further hear his appeal. Nine months later there is still no appeal hearing set. The man continues to file his weekly claims. Is there a time statute with which Nevada must comply regarding the setting of an appeal hearing?

  • Bankruptcy exemption question?

I am converting a chapter 13 to a chapter 7 and have an exemption question...?

I am converting from a 13 to a 7 due to my spouse's job loss. We filed the 13 In Pro Se. When my spouse separated from employment he had a minor 401k (4600.00) that was disbursed. The disbursement is in a joint savings account and the dollar amount of the disbursement itself (and the total dollar amount of personal assets) is well under the exempt limit. My question: Is the savings account (total amount 4600.00) completely exempt?

  • Filing Chapter 13, is there a better way?

A client filed a Chapter 7 (for medical expenses) in 2002. He is under the CMI median and presumption does not arise however, he can not wait until 2010 to file another chapter 7 (again, for extraordinary medical expenses). Should he file a 13 and possibly convert to a 7 in 2010 or is there another course of action?

  • Is revolution in the US a possibility?

Historically, when the majority of people go hungry, homeless or broke, while the ruling faction faces prosperity, revolution occurs.

In your opinion, how possible is the occurrence of a modern day revolution in the US?

  • Anyone out there near Echo Utah going down I-80?

Anyone out there near Echo Utah going down I-80?

I know this site is not for things like an amber alert but how about a lost puppy alert?

A Bichon Mom was driving on a trip, on I-80 and fell asleep at the wheel. Her car rolled several times and her precious Bichon somehow escaped when they took her to the hospital. The owner lives in Wyoming and has asked Small Paws for assistance.

"Franzene" is 3 years old. She's not wearing a collar or tags but she is microchipped.

Her chip has migrated through, down by her front leg.

This little one has been sighted as late as Saturday evening by a trucker, walking along side of the highway like she's trying to get back home.

But we need to find some folks in the area to go and see if they can help to find her. This is evidently a sparsely populated area.

We need people who are near a town called Echo, Utah, 40 miles east of Salt Lake City, on I-80.

  • Should you have to explain your rating of answers?

I have seen so many answers, that range from benign to extremely informational, tagged with thumbs down marks. For no apparent reason even the most polite and helpful answers receive negative marks.

How do you rate an answer and, do you think that negative marks should have to be explained?

    Thanks to all!

  • California Regulations on Towing?

Regarding towing buisiness who tow and then store cars (after accidents, etc.) , can someone reference me the regulation (or statute) that guidelines the allowable daily storage fees, time limits, notices and vehicle auctions by a towing company?

In other words, can a towing company charge $100 per day for an unlimited time, auction the vehicle and make a demand for the storage fees after the vehicle has been sold? I can't find the California regulations covering this specific aspect.

Thank you very much and Happy Friday!
