Social security question. Are benefits increased if the recipient develops a disability?

    No. I don't think so.

    In a way. If you are disabled, you can get 100% of your Social Security from that point on. So rather than wait until you're 66 or 67 (I'm not sure what the age is these days), you get full 'retirement' from the point of becoming disabled. Meaning that if you live to your life expectancy, you'll get more.

    But the monthly benefit isn't increased. It's the same as you would have gotten, just you get it more years.
