I need assistance enabling some features in winxp.?
I can't get my defrag,system restore,windows defender,sfc or any administrative features to run. I am just coming back from a virus recovery.I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the permissions or services,but i'm not positive how to check this theory or fix it. I'm not computer illiterate,but i'm no master either...anyone help?

I have found that the only way around this particular virus's destruction is to do a system restore from an xp disk.

If you are certain that you have got rid of the virus then your best option might be to do a 'refresh install' of XP.
In other words boot from the installation CD, then choose "upgrade" instead of "fresh/new install".
This will insert all the missing stuff back again without upsetting your docs or programs.
You will need to install all the service packs again after that.
If you want a bit of homework to do, the best way to do a refresh install on a system that has had service pack 2 or 3 installed is to do a "slipstreamed" installer disk that integrates the service packs onto the install disk.
