What MP3 Player/Cheap iPod Brand Would You Recommend?

Hi there, I'm Jenny! :]

So this is my last year of elementary school in Canada for me (grade 7), and I was considering finally getting a music player such as a mp3 player or one of the cheaper brands of iPods.

This is going to be my very first music player that I'll actually have, so I'm quite new to which brands I should choose.

Over the years I've realised I can concentrate on my homework better while listening to music - yes, real music, not plain music that won't distract you. I didn't want to spend money for a music player, since I simply downloaded songs from YouTube videos with a file converter, then playing them on Windows Media Player like a "computer" mp3 player while doing homework.

Unlike most people, I'm not interested in getting the most expensivest & convinient player possible, like the iPod touch, or the iPhone. >_<

Personally, I'm just fine with a mp3 player that has relatively good storage, or an iPod shuffle.

So, now that I've finally gotten to my point, I'd like to ask if there are any specific mp3 player brands that you'd recommend, or if I should get an iPod shuffle (any cheaper iPod brands are fine, too).

Links to pictures of it / official websites selling the brand (Rogers, Wal-Mart, Future Shop) / more detailed info on the certain brand

would be GREATLY appreciated. :]]

Please don't call me a spoiled brat... this is my second electronic device. (My first was a cheap cellphone so my mom could check up on me. :P)

If you're looking for a smaller size mp3 player the Samsung S2 Pebble ( http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_... )got fairly good reviews. Obviously you've seen the ipod shuffle - the s2 is simular for that. Other than the apple ipod (there is no other brand of ipod, ipod = apple) it's also worth checking out:

creative labs zen (32gb xfi: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_... or 16gb Zen: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_...

    microsofts zune (120gb: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_... 16gb: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_...

There's a reason ipods are the most popular though, apple do make a genuinely nice product, so definatly check out their nano or classic models.

edit: also I don't think anyone will call you a spoiled brat for getting an mp3 player! spoiled brats are the ones who get a convertable for their 16th and complain that their boyfriend won't buy them expensive purfumes and designer clothes when they're 13 (a previous yahoo answers question i replied in)

You cant go wrong with the ipod nano, its the cheapest ipod with a screen, but it still holds plenty of music.....I had a shuffle for quite a while and i loved it...it did become annoying for when i wanted a certain song, but for working or doing hw it was great :)

I dont really recommend any other of the major music players (ive handled zunes and zens) they just dont do it for me.
