Do you know more about this movie?

A scene from a movie popped into my head last night, and with very little detail, but it doesn't hurt to try! It seems this scene happened near or at the end of the movie. A man gets shot in the chest. Seems that he is a father and his child goes down after him, you know, with the normal crying and what not, that usually happens with that kind of scene. Well, the man is not dead. He kind of sits up, and pulls something out of his shirt pocket or his jacket pocket? And the something blocked/stopped the bullet, it's lodged in the object. And the object is a book, a coin, a petrified piece of tree? I don't know! Like, I said, I don't have many details. Just the vague recollection of the scene. Do you know more about this movie or the movie title? Thanks!

Update:

Dude, rick s, how about listing the 10 movies? Sorry, but duh. I didn't say I was 100% positive that it was a father and child. Oh well.

Sorry, but its a little too vague, I know of about 10 films, inwhich a bullet is stopped by a strange obect, however, none of them have a father/child in the scene.

Oh man. I know exactly what you're talking about. I think it was a book. Almost positive it was a book. I can't think of what movie it is though. Argh. I know what you're talking about, and I seem te remember the movie fondly.

I'll come back if I think of it.
