Is the Bible readable for those who don't believe what they are reading?
I found it a bit difficult to sit down and read the Bible when I didn't believe what was reading, but I was wondering about other opinions. What did you all think?
Nothing about how I should believe it, thanks.

If you can read a book, then you can read the Bible. Believing or not believing what you read is up to you.

Archaeology has proven time and time again that the Bible is an exceptional historical record.
It's up to you if you believe the point of the Bible, but you're thumbing your nose at science if you disregard the historical account of the Bible.

The Bible can be read as literature. There are classes that deal with the different literary styles used in the Bible.
A person can enjoy an historical novel, science fiction, war stories, sports stories, romance novels, etc even though they know the stories are not true.

You can read it, but according to the Bible it is stated that nonbelievers will think it is foolishness. It IS the Holy Spirit that indwells christians that GIVES christians the understanding of the Word of God. We christians' eyes are opened and see truth, our ears hear God's Word and our hearts know His truth. God bless you

The Bible is for those whom God has called to understand His Truth in this age. It is not "readable" or to be understood by those whom the father has not called.....Case in point......Jesus taught His disciples that God must grant spiritual insight. No one can come to Jesus unless God the Father "draws him" (John 6:44). "To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables, so that ‘Seeing they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear and not understand; lest they should turn, and their sins be forgiven them’" (Mark 4:11–12). The Word of God makes it clear that most people have never been "called" during this age—even most people in our so-called "Christian" society. Millions may know about God. But they do not truly "know" God. For God tells us, "He who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him" (1 John 2:4). And again, "Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46).

It does help to meditate and pray for revelation before you read.
But there are different versions that may allow for an easier read but it is up to you to find it... the amplified version works for me

It is God's word. It is alive and powerful. I guess you could read it as a piece of literature, but to ask God to open your spiritual eyes and speak to your heart would be much more beneficial.

It probably has more to do with the content, language, and genres in the Bible being new to you.

Connie is right you must pray first to have the Holy Ghost reveal it for you.

I guess it'll pass off as fables and folklore to those who dont believe it happened.
