hypothetically if the government?

this is for the pro-immigrants (and i want no porkies now!!)

hypothetically the government has decided to ask for volunteers to put up immigrants in their own homes and for a small contribution keep them.

now bearing in mind this is a person you know nothing about-you don't know about that persons history-probably doesn't speak the lingo so they cannot tell you anything about themselves.

and you have a family.

would you be prepared to take the risk of offering the spare room in your home to one?.

be honest now!!.

Update:

of course you would not be expected to put up a complete stranger.

the government will have "vetted" them.

but you only have its word for that.

Update 2:

thats a good point rommel-no problems in taking in starving kids.

i was referring to the adult poles/kosovans/croats etc descending upon our shores.

Update 3:

for greasy and cents-did you miss the word "hypothetically"!!.

no i would not. i have the safety of my Grand son to think about. i would gladly take on a starving child from Africa or India and bring them up as part of the family.....to be honest i think it makes more sense to bring in homeless children, than adults. because the children do actually genuinely need or help and will quickly settle and regard Britain as home. i personally think that is the way forward for future immigration. it will cut out the hate fuelled morons that we currently allow in.

If I had my own home that I owned & not on mortgage then probably yes. Maybe it's a good deterrent them knowing they have to share with such kind United Kingdomicilians.

There are some good people out there. What can we teach them OH YES PUB!!! Thats a nice place. So maybe it's a good idea or a bad one I dunno bout that one. How are they doing it anyway?

Nobody is being asked to offer a spare bedroom, so your question doesn't make sense!

That's like renting a room to any American. You don't know who they are if you don't gather information from them first.

If they are here to help out our economy/country?, then HELL YEAH!

It's hard for employers here to find real hard workers, and that's where the immigrants come in.

    I'll teach them my lingo!

  • 1 decade ago

well I'm pro-immigrant and believe that our countries need them to aid the economy and all...but personally I wouldn't put my spare room up to a stranger, regardless of whether they spoke my language or not. It would be far too risky, like you could have a murderer or thief under your roof...

They mightn't be a stranger to the government but they would still be a stranger to you!
