Why does it cold in the winter and hotter in the summer?

Update:

So the fact that it is colder in the winter and warmer in the summer has nothing to do with the Global Warming issue?

Update 2:

And maybe I am still in elementarty school - did you think of that before you ridiculed me? Gosh!

Keep researching and look up the average global temps from NOAA, NASA and HadCRUT.

did you not learn this in elementary school?? ok...

the earth is on an axis and the axis is tilted... it takes the earth 24 hours to rotate around the axis [that gives us day and night because it rotates away from the sun]

at the same time, it takes 365 days [thats a full year] for the earth to rotate around the sun...because the earth is set on a tilt, for about half a year, the earth is tilted away from the sun and so it does not receive as much heat, therefore, winter! ta da.

btw, in places like australia, its opposite...they have summer in december and winter in august.
