What type of dog should I get?
I'm looking to purchase a mid size dog that will get alone well with small children. One that doesn't have a lot of hair or shedding and won't mind being home by itself while I'm at work. I was considering a mini pinscher.

Pinschers can be very temperamental. Getting a dog with small children is always a risk, but can be very rewarding if you find the right one. Labrador Retrievers can be a bit too jumping and spastic for a child. Golden Retrievers always seem to be the ideal family dog, but may grow to be bigger than what you're looking for. Also, goldens are generally known to be very calm. That would be my number one recommendation. But, for a bit smaller is the Australian Shepard. They may be a bit more playful, but ideal for an older child, about 3-4yrs. I'm not sure if you were planning to adopt, or get the dog as a puppy. It's always better to raise the dogs with the children, so they're use to them.
I hope this can help.

Manchester Terriers are a little bigger than Mini Pinschers but look the same. A slightly larger dog would probably be better to have with small children.

get a pug! they shed a lot but if you get a black one they dont seem to shed as much. theyre small dogs. they have short hair and theyre the sweetest little dogs. and they love children of all ages. we have 2 and they dont mind staying home all day when were gone.
if you get a pug you wont regret it!!!

a labrador would be best thy are great with kids and very easy to train, but if you thinking of getting a puppy it wouldn't be such a good idea if you not home a all the time because they need a lot of training and would probably chew a lot if Left alone.

um if u r gana go to work i don't recommend u to get a puppy and labs are great dogs and they get along with everyone and everything. it doesn't have a lot of hair or shed much but idk if they can be left alone. maybe u should go to the animal shelter or the ASPCA and im sure that u will find a great dog.

I love my yorkie! He is awesome and has a great demeanor. I also have a Boxer who is a total spaz and super hyper. I attached a quiz you can take to help tell what breed is right for you. Good luck!

I don't know if it can be classified as mid-sized, but King Charles' Cavaliers are so cute, and friendly by nature.
Expensive, but well worth the money.

If you don't want hair all over you and the house, if you have small kids, and have no time, get a robot dog, Don't forget that animals are living creatures with needs, like yourself. Please don't get an animal. By your question I can see that you are not ready to own one just yet.

pinschers are not very friendly with kids, they are as friendly as a pitt bull. i would recommend a shnoodle, because they have the shedding advantages of a poodle(they dont shed). they also are very smart and u can teach them to do all sorts of tricks. they are cute and cuddly, and are about midsized. it depends on how tall it gets.
