How do I obtain my DD-256N form? I am prior military and was told I needed this form with dd-214 to reenlist.?

Update:

I have my DD-214. I went to see a navy recruiter today and he told me that I needed to have the DD-256N form as well before he could do anything. I wasn't quite sure if I was getting the right information or not. I know I am eligible to re-enlist and I have a honorable discharge.

i assume your trying to re-enlist after some time of getting out of whatever branch you were in. all you need to get back in is a dd214. that will have all your discharge information on it. if you didnt get an honorable discharge then your NOT going to be able to get a dd256. period. on your dd214 you have a RE code and a seperation code. if your RE code is a 4, then your not ever going to be able to reup, with anyone. if its a 2 or a 3, you will have to get it waived, if possible. but to tell you better i would have to know what the codes are. DO NOT POST your codes in this forum.

First of all, one has to wonder why you're still attacking Kerry. Secondly, he signed the form on May 20, 2005 for release of his records to the Boston Globe, The LA Times and the AP. Turns out that he had already released just about all the records during his campaign, and they found nothing new in the file. It also turned out that the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth were liars, but that's something everyone with a brain knew from the start. The important thing here. If you're going to rant, try not to embarrass yourself by asking for something that already happened.

That's your navy honorable discharge form, where's the one they gave you when you ended your prior service? If I was you, I try to communicate with the Personnel Transition Office in the last base were you were last. And tell them what your situation is, and of course, a good excuse on how you don't have the one paper they gave you.

The DD256 is just the discharge certificate that you hang on a wall. Can't understand why the DD214 wouldn't be enough.

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/avwKf

Hah, hah, hah, hah, hah...... You expect someone who came up with "I threw away someone elses medals" to actually show some honor? Honesty and honor are as alien to Senator Kerry as sobriety is to Senator Kennedy.
