Anyone with me on making March 3 the official day to recognize Chief Joseph as being a Civil Rights leader?
He was one of the most recognized leaders for equality for Native Americans. He was leading the fight for equal rights well before Martin Luther King Jr. and I don't think he should be forgotten.

I agree that Chief Joseph of the Nez Perces should be remembered, and perhaps even as a civil rights leader, but what's significant about March 3rd?
