Pythagorean theorem
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
c is the distance btwn 2 points.
You are basically making a right angle triangle and using the Cartesian coordinates to give you the values for a & b.

Us the distnace formula:
it is the square root of the quantity [(x2 - x1)^2 + (y2 - y1)^2]
where two points are (x1,y1) and (x2,y2)
Hope this helps!!!

distance formula: square root( ((x2-x1)^2)+((y1-y2)^2) )
where x2 y1 etc are the numbers in the points.
