Why Would Anyone Want To Buy This Dumb Painting?

Okay, maybe it's not dumb but when I painted this I did it as a private, personal 'in joke', a satire that I figured no one would 'get' except me.

Even though I've posted copies of it on my blog and in other places, like Saatch, if never got any feedback. So I assumed it's appeal would always be limited.

But someone just bought it and I'll never know who or why or what appeal it has to them.

So, I'm seriously wondering if you guys see a message here that I thought only I would see? Could I have underestimated the appeal of this silly painting?

Update:

Carly, that's not what it reads. Look again closely.

Update 2:

Puppy, I'm working on a multi-panel painting right now. The kind that will take me weeks of free time to do. And for the first time ever I'm actually going to paint myself into the painting.

As to 'Life Cycle of A Artist' you're right. it does tell a specific story. But not one person, except Soundproof, has ever caught or noticed the intential oddity in this painting.

Update 3:

Every word used in the painting has the word 'art' contained within the word. One person has noticed this.

    I would.

Why? Cause I like it. Reminds me of Dadaism in a way.

Actually, after reading the title and looking at the painting again, I do get something out of it.

It at least did what it says. So it can't be a dumb painting.

Not many art does that. How is the martyr doing? Making new art?

Don't know, but at least you don't have it laying around taking up space.

I don't see why someone would buy it, but art is subjective.
