Let's stop SB questions for a min and talk about....?

the Detroit Lions. With all the "Who's going to win the Super Bowl" questions floating around I have some questions for the team that just couldn't get there.

Has any other team in NFL history won all of their preseason games to have a total loss on the regular season?

What do you think happened from the preseason to the regular season?

What do you think that the Lions need to do to turn themselves around for next year?

And finally... is there anyone out there claiming Detroit as "their team?"

...........the last one was just a joke kids.

All I know is they do not need a QB so much as they need an offensive line. Drew Stanton is still a promising prospect.

    Anyway look at the numbers,

Dan Orlovsky - Sacked 14 times (255 attempts)

Daunte Culpepper - Sacked 14 times (115 attempts)

Drew Stanton - Sacked 6 times (Stanton attempted a scant few 17 passes)

Getting sacked a combined 34 times in a mere 387 attempts is pathetic. With three different QB's taking a crack at it the only consistent metric is the offensive line. A similar comparison would be Aaron Rodgers who attempted 149 more passes and was sacked the same amount of times.

edit: oops left out Kitna and Henson

Jon Kitna - Sacked 15 times (120 attempts)

Drew Henson - Sacked 3 times (2 attempts)

Lions ranked 31st in the NFL in sacks allowed with 52 (509 attempts)

well what happend between that was teams are actually tried. It was real football, not a tryout. And kinta got hurt. Which ik he is not that great, but def. better than any other one they had on their roster and was the leader. So although they would not have completely turned their season around, he was a big blow.

in terms of what they need to do, is get direction. they need to hire a coach and stick with him long enough to give him a shot. that way he can get his ideas and personal into the organization. Then they need to keep drafting smart, they need to upgrade that defense, and their oline should be their biggest priorities. I think that although many people will say QB, i would put that as a medium need, they do not need one right now, because Kitna is serviceable for at least a two more years, especially with their team. Plus, with as bad as their oline is, there is only a certain amount of success any qb can have their, and you dont want to put a rookie that u want to lead your team in the future in those hands. Upgrade the oline first, and the D, then u can go ahead and get a fran qb next year at the earliest. Probably two years from now.

Well, They def need to take that "Thanksgiving Day" game from them. It's gonna have to be consistent drafting and coaching from a respectable coach. I knew Mariucci couldn't do anything with them. I also think It shouldn't all fall on Marinelli who is one of the best D-line Coaches out there. Is Cam Cameron a bad coach? No Last I heard He is a Offensive coordinator In the AFC championship game. Getting rid of that "gm" maybe a catlyst OH AND MAYBE NOT GIVING AWAY TOP RECEIVERS TO RICHER TEAMS LIKE DALLAS

What happened to the Lions was that Matt Millen set this team back 10 years.

They need a qb. And need to beef up there defense.

    Have a decent RB

Have some playmakers at the wideout positions.

Now all they need is a QB to lead the team.

I think with a lil better defense and a good QB they can be a .500 team next season.

    QUARTERBACK, QUARTERBACK, QUARTERBACK.

Dan Orloyzky? Daunte "Fat Albert" Culpepper? Jon Kitna? Seriously. These are some louzy QBs they have. They need to draft someone good. Whatever QB they get will have a deadly weapon: Calvin Johnson.

the ONLY chance they have is to GIVE their team to a guy who knows what he's doing... like a parcells or something... and let him build it... and it would take a few years to do...

short of that... it's going to be ugly for a long time... just like it has been...
