A question for other Atheists?
Does it really bother any of you that they use the word "god" in speeches for the presidents oath? I am very atheist and it has no effect on me. If they believe in a god. Then maybe they will actually follow their promises. Being as I know their imaginary friend is fictitious I personally would never say it. But, does it really bother any of you to the point of wanting to sue?

Including god in the presidential oath isn't what bothers me, it's that it will make things harder if an atheist ever runs for president. By everyone saying it, it becomes a standard. If Obama didn't include god in his presidential oath, the groups that think he's the antichrist will have even more to back up their idea. Whether or not someone uses the word god in a speech shouldn't be used to determine whether or not they're a good person.

There are a lot of radical non-christians out there who are all upset about the word "God" being in historical documents, swearing in at court, and in presidential addresses, etc. I, personally, do not care. Using the word "God" in these things is a little thing I like to call tradition. That's how it's always been, why change it? Just because some non-monotheists get all crazy about it, that't their choice, they can just ignore it.
I'm going into the army, and still say "One nation, under God," and I certainly don't get into a tizzy about it. It frustrates me when people do. They just need to calm their horses.

"If they believe in a god. Then maybe they will actually follow their promises."
you live in a dream world if think that believing in any god makes you a better person, or more likely to follow your oaths.
this isn't to say that i care if they believe in god or not, i don't.

Obama's a Christian, so who am I to tell him if he wants to swear an oath to god? When there's a non-theistic president, then this can be an issue.

The way I see it, as long as nobody tries to force ME to use god in an oath, everything's cool.
Besides, I'm Canadian.

Nah I don't care ... In fact I ask god to damn things routinely because if I yelled "DARWIN DAMMIT" someone would call the guys with the funny coats

I don't care, they've been saying the same thing for so many years its meaning doesn't even matter any more, its more tradition than anything I think.

Comes down to personal choice.
