Do I need a motorcycle VIN number to get insurance in NC?
I live in North Carolina and I'm trying to get a license to purchase and operate a 150cc motorcycle.
In North Carolina you must have a license for an automobile before you can get an endorsement for a motorcycle. Right now I'm learning how to drive a van so I can get a motorcycle endorsement.
Before you can get a license for an automobile you must have proof of liability insurance (DMV form DL-123).
Do I actually need a vehicle with a VIN number to get liability insurance?
Or do I have to purchase non-owners insurance first and then switch it over to motorcycle insurance after I get an automobile license with motorcycle endorsement?

If you own a vehicle, you need a VIN. If you don't own a vehicle yet, go with the non-owners policy.

The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.
Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net/ that has been around since 1995.

You need a vin number for the vehicle you are getting insured for whether that vehicles yours, your parents, your brothers. If YOU are the one acquiring the insurance on any given vehicle you need a vin number for that vehicle otherwise why would you need the insurance? ?
