Huevo's music festival of the day?

In order to bring exposure to a lot of top quality bands that deserve the exposure, I'm going to bring up Terrastock, the premiere rock festival in my eyes. Providing random locations and dates, the line-up includes the best psychedlic indie bands out there today. Included is a location of each previous festival and a list of the bands having played. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terrastock

I had the chance to go attend the festival in Seattlein 2000. Outside of not having the cash to see My Bloody Valentine open for Dinosaur Jr on the Green Mind tour, it is the one major musical regret I've ever had. While I am not familiar with a lot of the bands on the pages, it is a great place for the experimental music lover to look for new bands.

Here's samples from some of the bands included.

Bardo Pond - Tommy Gun Angel

The Bevis Frond - The Daily Round

As always, listen to the clips and comment if you like.

Update:

It is Karl, one of these times I'm going to make it, I especially want to see The LP4 live as I used to go see one of their precursors, The Mike Gunn, down in Houston. Good stuff that.

And thanks Olive, I truly appreciate it. I was gone in Texas for the holidays and Idaho for work but I'm back for a while. I have to telly ou too, I introduced a friend of mine to Mooncake and he's blown away by it as am I. Thanks for the intro!

Update 2:

I hear ya Shades, it's best not to look back at those times I suppose........

But anywho, how are you? Hope 2009 is treating you right.

Update 3:

Ack, I can tell I've been off for a while. I spaced the thumbs up for everyone.

Update 4:

Hey Captain, happy new year to you as well. That is quite odd but ,wow, a beautiful arrangement.

Hi Mr. Bernstein! I'm not sure for the next one, they just tend to randomly announce the site a few months before it is to be held. I hear you, travelling for music is not generally in my plans but for this one I'd definitely make the exception.

And I'm glad you guys like The Green Pajamas. They have such a soothing sound to them and like Olive said, they've been around for over 20 years now. Just shows that you can't kill true talent.

I am so happy that you are back and posting these! One of my favorite things about R&P came back!!

    ---

Wow, these bands are terrific, Huevo!

The first song was my favorite, I loved the psychedelic feel and the amazing shoegazing-type distortions. Really blew me away, I can't wait to hear more from them.

Green Pajamas were excellent as well. I looked them up, and I can't believe they've been around for 20 years! I loved his voice.

The vocals on "Beautiful Close Double" were great--they blend really well. She has an especially beautiful voice. I really need more female vocalists in my music library as I can't pick out but a few at the present. I'd be such a pitiful hard-core feminist, lol....

"Alien Abduction" was amazing. I loved the guitar parts. I've heard of Linus Pauling Quartet as I live in Texas, but I've never actually listened to their music until now, so thanks!

"Birdy" was great too. Really high energy and I loved it (and the ending minute part or two was amazing).

The Bevis Front is a band I've only heard a few song from but always forget to really check them out so thanks for reminding me! I loved "The Daily Round" and I'm currently listening to "Red Hair".

As always, amazing picks! I will definitely be looking into these artists. The list of artists/bands I've been introduced to thanks to your postings are long--and much appreciated. And I'm glad you like Mooncake, too! Hope you had a good holiday =)

I'm gonna have to sign up for imeem to listen to some of these, but I have no doubt it'll be worth it. Checked out the wiki site and that led me to check out some other sites. Too much too process at the moment. Interesting to see everyone from Neutral Milk Hotel to Mudhoney to Country Joe McDonald have played the festival. I'm learning too late, however, that the fest was in Louisville, Kentucky last year- about a four hour drive for me. :(

Hi Huevo, nice to see you buddy!

Nice collection of bands. Never heard of the Green Pajamas but they were definitely impressive. Yeah, I really agree with you that this particular music festival has type of lineup that I would be interested in. Not surprising since we often like the same bands and all. I am not one to travel to listen to music, but I can tell you I am tempted on this one. Where is the festival held?

    Thanks again Huevo!

    bizarre, n'est-ce pas?

those are some fantastic line-ups - i've even heard of some of the bands.

damon and naomi were two-thirds of galaxie 500, for those that don't know.

i, too, am getting into green pajamas.

which is strange, cos i've only just got up...

You know Huevo... missed concerts that I *could* have gone to are among my biggest regrets.... It's a slice of time that will never come this way again...

...but to the subject at hand... will have to give them a listen!
