We have owned 5 Toyotas from brand new incl a 1993 Camry LE that had 211,000 miles when my wife and her sisters insisted on SUVs and she got a 2005 Toyoat Highlander 6 cylinder AWD.
Personally as your 1st CAR I think you should spend more on a used Toyota but a 1994 Camry LE V6 is TOO OLD (15) for a 1st car since old cars tend to break down frequently...meaning when something goes wrong (very likely & often) you will have to open your wallet and take it to the mechanic and hope the repair is reasonable. If you don't give the repair PRIORITY there is a good chance the repair could exceed what you paid for the older used car and then will have lost more than $1,650 esp the mechanic's expenses if you decide it's not worth repairing and finally decide to move on by shopping for a replacement. Believe me it does happen and did so to our oldest son who wanted something more sporty than Toyota Corolla after graduating from college so he bought used Mitsubishi Eclipse and ended blowing the engine...
Basically it's not a good way to start and could make your owning & buying cars an unpleasant experience.
Best of Luck!

According to Kelly Blue Book, in the L.A. region, if it is in excellent condition, the retail value is about $4,175.
