How Do Male Pearl Cockatiels look if they are losing their spots?
I have a missing possible Male Lutino-Pearl-Pied Cockatie, going on a year now.Someone has found one,and all it has left for pearls(spots)are on his head, the rest of him is light grey, even the beak markings are different from my lost birds. My Bird has small white pearls on the upper wing area, going into an extermely weird pattern od stripes and multi colored spots with grey showing through. Is it possible for him to have changed(molted in a years time)to a normal grey with a yellow face, and with only the Pearls leftover on the back and sides of the head?
The found one doesnt even have the pied light barely there markings my bird has, on his chest, but the lady who found him is giving him to me.I only want to make sure how he would change because I dont want to claim someone elses bird as mine when I should be looking for his parrents. That being said,if this bird was out for a while,it also doesnt really like to be touched much, which would be normal in my eyes, even tthough my Bird was tamed all of the way.I am going to give it a while to see,but I guess Im doubtful.Thanx for a positive answer,I have heard Pearl males do this, but I was told they become darker grey, not lighter, which confused me,as do the beak markings.
We now think it is him, too! There are barely there pearls you couldnt see under the dust on him,and every day brings a new detail, every time we bathe him.He even has two original spots left by his wings, and the face is completley indentical,as are some of his actions beggining to be.Thanks for the timely answer,we were in total disbelief, yet wanting to believe at the same time.

Male tiels lose their pearling when they mature. Most than likely he'll look more pied now. It could very well be him.
