In your opinion, what is the best brand LCD tv?
We've decided to get our first LCD tv. We will probably be getting a 40-49" model. Deciding on what brand is so confusing. Considering all factors, but emphasizing reliability/durability & price, which are your top picks & which ones should we steer clear of? (Sony, Toshiba, RCA, Samsung, Viore, Philips, Vizio) Please explain why. THANK YOU!!!!!

We just bought a 46" Samsung and the picture is amazing. We tried the other ones you listed and the picture quality was not that great. The color was dull, the picture was pix-elated and just all around kind of fuzzy. Samsung is a good quality TV and the warranty is great. RCA are not good at all, Vizio's are not as high quality. The samsung be bought stands on a TV stand not hanging on the way, and it swivels which is great also. good luck.

Yes, there are many factors to consider, however, if you are sure you would like to get an LCD tv rather than a plasma you should get a sony. Sony does not make plasmas, but they are the best manufacturers for LCDs. If you are looking for the best possible tv with the best picture I would recommend a Pioneer. Pioneer tvs have the best picture to date, but they do not make anything below 50 inches. you said you were looking for 40-49 so its close. They are a bit pricey, but if your willing to put the cash in its the best you could get. Also remember just because you put a lot of money into the tv that doesnt mean its going to be good. NEVER get a brand such as Visio. I myself could not imagine a better tv than the pioneer elite.

I like Vizio because they are remarkable cheaper than other brands like Sony i saw a Vizio 37" and a Sony 37" side by side and the Vizio was almost $50 cheaper. They were both LCD and pretty much the same specs.

Samsung- I work at a High End Home Theater Installation company-we always order Samsungs for clients.

Samsung is top rated by Consumer Reports and many people here. Sony is my favorite top brand. Hard to go wrong with either brand.

I like the Sharp Aquos simply because of the quality and price.I would stay clear of Vizio,RCA and Viore.I own a 46" aquos 120hz.

Sony is one of the top rated, but most expensive LCD televisions.
Sharp Aquous is a lower-priced but outstanding alternative.
Samsung is also very very good.
I would be happy to have any of these in my home.

I got a samsung because I heard you could replace the lamps or something if they burn out
