What determine a person’s maturity?

Is it his or her humor, intellect, kindness,…..............depth or the ability to spat?

Update:

Why are the answers by ysteban (Betsy) and P’quaint being down-thumbed?

Seriously I couldn’t see any flaw in their answers.

Please! Can anyone enlighten me Please!

Update 2:

To me, one’s ability to differentiate others’ businesses and one’s own business and thus mind his or her business determines one’s maturity state.

The inspiration came from the down thumbs.

Its dealing with everyday situations with all or any of the above-mentioned traits...depending on the needs/demands of the moment...so as not to let things go out of hand...to the detriment of all...

Ability to judge when to fight, or flee, when to punish or reward, when to be kind or harsh...

Its not just one but a combination and its proper use for everyone's well-being.

But its so easy to slip, to err...even for a mature person. Its only Human!

Maturity is seen differently by different people. What i myself might find as mature, someone else may not. If i had to give my own opinion then i would say that when a person can admit their mistakes, when they can be strong enough to face up to problems, when they are responsible for someone else and take this seriously. As well as being able to debate things in a reasonable manner and know when they are wrong. Although, even a mature person can act childish and silly sometimes, why not, as long as it doesn't hurt no one. We need to act impulsively and child like once in a while, or life would get too serious...

  • I was trying to think of an answer for this..'Wonderin' if I could..That only a real mature person knows..

I am really curious, and can't get it right. Maybe just because I haven't grown up yet that far..

    Love ya Xavier!!

Great question. Maturity is such a great quality! That I hope I would be someday..

And oh..I was just thinking that it was more than about a responsible aspect or in loving and mere understanding..

Maturity in what way? Some people are mature, which I define as the ability to react appropriately in any situation, with their ability to use humor for example.

There ability to go about situations, I base it I guess mainly off of seriousness. You know when to things at a certain time and moment. And you know when to take into consideration of others feelings. Humor I guess you could specify with maturity because of how they go about their humor. Again though depends on the situation of how a person handles things in the outcome.

I think a person;s wisdom and understanding of themselves, the world, and their spiritual state determine a person's maturity.

Physiologically, it happens when the brain comes to full developement which is around the age of 25-26.

Then one can see the structure of personality is pretty much set. Then one lives and accumulates experiences and all kinds of other 'personal characteristics' and tends to blow up this structure (ego). One's focus is outward looking and one works to accumulate things to further elevate oneself (including being seen as funny, kind, smart, good looking, etc), becuase one feels all these things are important to help one survive and define oneself as unique.

Eventually one comes to the point either when one loses these things and then is left with nothing, or has so much and realizes one is not happy with or without the things. At this point, one's focus turns away from the outside world to the inside, and then starts the quest of 'Who am I?".

This is the beginning of the transformation or break down of the old structure of personality into that of spontaneous spirit. So i would say one's full potential starts here at this turning point - so for me, it's my definition of the beginning of maturity.
