"Hi".....my apologies to to my esteemed collegue "Karen L" first as regards walking up to the top of Grouse......can't be done unless you are in peak physical shape and well equipped as concerns clothing shoes etc and especially stamina ! This is called the "Grouse Grind" and is suitably named ! *lol*

Here's a site regarding Grouse Mountain that will help you showing the gondola and giving you an idea of what the "Grind" would entail.....

So to answer you question there is ample parking at the bottom and the Gondola is situated conveniently right there and "nope" you cannot drive to the top of Grouse or use the fire road access. The Gondola ride up is quite spectacular and the views are incredible and the coming back down part is fun! *lol*

I will also advise that is you wish to drive a car to one of the local mountains namely Cypress and Mt. Seymour for whatever reason then that is simply no problem !They are right beside Grouse in any event are equally as beautiful !

Just "Yahoo" them for the info !

    Glad to help ! *S* (Michael C...)

The parking lot at Grouse Mountain is located at the bottom of the mountain so in order to get to the top you have a couple of choices. You can take the gondola or you can walk up the trail which is named "The Grouse Grind" but be aware, it is quite the workout. There is also a fire road up to the top that is accessed from the Deep Cove area but there is usually a gate across the entrance and it is illegal for private vehicles to access this gravel roadway. However, you can walk it although it is quite a hike and not suggested when snow is present. Carry a cell phone if you plan on walking, just in case.

No roads go up Grouse. You have to take the gondola or walk.

Edit: Yes, I stand corrected. I was giving the very simple version of Grouse access there. You can walk, though I believe the Grouse Grind is closed in winter for safety reasons and even in summer it's not just a stroll in the park. People get rescued from it fairly regularly after they find out they can't handle it or sustain injuries while attempting it. As a matter of fact, if you have the right vehicle and are experienced enough in off-road I believe it's physically possible to drive up in summer, though no doubt the folks who run Grouse frown upon that. I seem to remember being a great deal of the way up Grouse years ago when I hung out with some 4WD enthusiasts, back before there were enough of them for anyone to get around to banning them from various places.

You have to take the gondola or walk up to the top of the mountain. The gondola would be the best way to go if you are not in good physical shape. During the winter time, the grind is closed as there is too many risks of avalanches, and other concerns that they don't keep the trail open during the winter months.
