How can a make a "cookie cutter" wedding gown more custom/personalized?
I'm contemplating buying a David's Bridal wedding gown from a thrift store. It's very nice, but all David's gowns seem so... run of the mill. There's nothing about them that reall makes them stand out. Any ideas on how to give a gown a more personal or custom look would be appreciated. Thanks.

No offense but I got my gown there and it is very unique. It has intricate beading and unusual pick up and lace detail. But I do know what you mean about several of the gowns being run of the mill. I did run into that I just had to look around at db. Anyway as for the gown why don't you go get a sash to tie around the waist band

not really this style if you don't like it but just having a different color to make it stand out. Also you could have some beading done to it around the bottom to make it a little more unique. When push comes to shove honey you are going to stand out amazingly, you are the bride and you are going to be unique and gorgeous the day of your wedding! Every bride has that certain glow on her day that just can't be bought!

I got a 'run of the mill' bridesmaid dress this summer and to save it from the thriftshop, I added a black lace overlay on top of the plain satin skirt with a ribbon waistband. Now it's uniquely mine! I'm also having my MoH's dress customized (it's Alfred Angelo) with a wider ribbon under the bust than the design called for.
If you post a picture of the potential gown it could help with ideas...
Congrats & good luck!

A strip of fabric would be an easy sash.
Maybe a bright colored shawl?
Accessories are also great to make you look unique with a boring dress.
