Unlocking the iphone benifits and drawbacks?

I've heard you could do a lot more with your iPhone if you unlock it. So I would like to know what the pros and cons before/if I do it.

    unlocking only allows you to switch carriers.

    Well, there is actually more benefits than that. You get to enable a bunch of features that normally you wouldn't have access to.

    If you use the software, you could void your warranty, so I recomend using the unlocking SIM card.
