AUDIOPHILE HELP-How to use 2 systems on 1 pair of speakers- 2 channel stereo and 5.1 surround?
I am currently upgrading my home theater and want to use 2 different systems in the same room on the same pair of speakers. My two systems are...
2 channel stereo (for pure music)
Marantz pre-amp
Adcom 200wpc amp
Marantz SACD player
5.1 surround (for movies and games)
Outlaw Audio pre-amp processor
Rotel 5 channel amp
xbox 360
PS3
How can I set it up to switch between the two systems on my front main speakers? I guess what I am looking for is an amp switching box that I can run the speaker cable to from both of my amps for the RIGHT and LEFT mains and then run one set of wires out of that box to the speakers themselves.
I have found something from Niles audio that seems to work. Link is here.. http://www.nilesaudio.com/product.php?prodID=DPS-1...
Has anybody used this? Or a product like it? I am concerned about the quality of the signal and do not want to loose any quality, especially on the two channel side. Is there a high grade audiophile product out there that will do this?
Oh, dont bother mentioning a theater bypass...neither of my pre amps will let me do this.
Thanks so much. Look forward to hearing from you.
Why do I want a separate 2 channel setup? Because I have found that the Marantz/Adcom combo is very pleasing to me from a music standpoint. I tried using the Outlaw Audio pre-amp with my adcom for playing music and it just does not sound right. So I want to keep running my music thru the Marantz and let the Outlaw, with its multiple DVI inputs, be the center of my theater system which it does very well.

You have the right product. Should do the job just fine for you. I doubt any gimmicky product would do it any better. Since all you are doing is passing current. Don't let yourself perceive otherwise. If you think it doesn't do it well. I would be willing to bet it's in your head not in your amp.

hi.it fairly relies upon on the popular of the equipment used.In a music device or a house Theater device the recorded concepts is retrieved from the equipment (files,CDs, DVDs, Tape,Tuner, satellite tv for pc etc.) switched over to an electric powered signal by the source component and despatched to the Pre - Amplifier. This component is to blame for volume adjustment, and enter switching. (to choose the source you're using) The Pre-Amplifier is to blame for the first degree of amplification of the tiny signal it receives from the source. The signal is then surpassed on to the potential Amplifier(s) for the subsequent degree of amplification . Its pastime is to flow the audio device again and forth with administration and accuracy at the same time as not introducing any noise or distortions to the signal it receives from the Pre-Amp. After the signal leaves the potential-Amplifier(s) it travels to the Loudspeakers by potential of a particular cable .If the signal has not deteriorated too a lot at the same time as it receives to the audio device they covert the electric powered signal into an acoustical one and hopefully reproduce the sound we favor to hearken to. The equipment in a Stereo or domicile Theater are like links in a chain. From starting up to end not some thing can improve the unique signal. A music device and residential theater are harm administration jobs.because we gained't make the signal more effective appropriate than that is on the equipment, the objective is to degrade it as low as plausible. If concepts is lost or damaged on the source not some thing else down the chain can make up for it or fix it.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to eliminate the 2-channel stereo setup, and just run everything through the 5.1 amplifier. This amp should be capable of putting out any mixture of sound, including 2-channel stereo. Your plan sounds needlessly complicated to me.

sounds like a disaster waitin to happen.. just hook it up with the5.1 and use ur amp as bi-amps n amps... if you hook it up 2 different systems your goin to have a fire hazzard and let alone having to keep switching the speaker wire for speaker..
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME
