Duevel Planets-anyone use these omni directional speakers?
Was wondering if anyone could give me an opinion as to what kind of sound I can expect from these speakers. There are no dealers anywhere near where I live.
http://www.duevel.com/Produkte/EPlanets.shtml
I am currently looking at upgrading my speakers and want to know how these compare to a decent hi-midfi speaker. For comparision, I am also looking at the following speakers in the $1100 to $1900 price range and have listened to them all except for the BG Radia.
Dali Ikon 6
Monitor Audio Silver RS6
BG Radia Z7
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
4 AnswersHome Theater1 decade agoAUDIOPHILE HELP-How to use 2 systems on 1 pair of speakers- 2 channel stereo and 5.1 surround?
I am currently upgrading my home theater and want to use 2 different systems in the same room on the same pair of speakers. My two systems are...
2 channel stereo (for pure music)
Marantz pre-amp
Adcom 200wpc amp
Marantz SACD player
5.1 surround (for movies and games)
Outlaw Audio pre-amp processor
Rotel 5 channel amp
xbox 360
PS3
How can I set it up to switch between the two systems on my front main speakers? I guess what I am looking for is an amp switching box that I can run the speaker cable to from both of my amps for the RIGHT and LEFT mains and then run one set of wires out of that box to the speakers themselves.
I have found something from Niles audio that seems to work. Link is here.. http://www.nilesaudio.com/product.php?prodID=DPS-1...
Has anybody used this? Or a product like it? I am concerned about the quality of the signal and do not want to loose any quality, especially on the two channel side. Is there a high grade audiophile product out there that will do this?
Oh, dont bother mentioning a theater bypass...neither of my pre amps will let me do this.
Thanks so much. Look forward to hearing from you.
4 AnswersHome Theater1 decade agoPaypal help please?
Ok, havent use paypal in years and I just opened an account. I have made a couple of ebay purchases and they have gone thru ok. However, the type of payment withdrawal that paypal is using from my account is an e-check. It takes several days for this to hit my bank and then be credited to the seller.
My question is....is there a faster way for paypal to take money from my account and pay the seller. What if I sign up my debit card with paypal? Will this let them access my confirmed account faster? I dont know why they couldnt since I use my debit card all the time for instant purchases.
Or is there another way? Please let me know. I want the sellers on ebay to get their money as quick as possible.
Thanks for any help you can give.

3 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoadobe photoshop?
Hi guys. I have been shooting for a little while now and all my photos so far have been in jpeg format. I am upgrading my camera soon and want to start shooting in all RAW. My question concerns adobe photshop.
I know there are several versions and add on to the whole adobe line of products. Could somebody give me a run down of what all of these programs do and which one I should start with. Prices would be nice to. I am mainly needing to know which software I should start with to learn how to digitaly manipulate raw images. I am asking about adobe because it seems to be the industry standard. If there are alternatives then those would be nice as well.
Thanks in advance.
2 AnswersCameras1 decade agoPentax K10d- can you shoot IR with it unmodified?
Was reading an article on a Pentax K100d super and it said that with the right filter you could shoot infrared with it.
Will the K10d do this as well?
Thanks.
2 AnswersCameras1 decade agoPentax K10D- B&W photos?
I am interested in getting a K10D and recently read an article on the lesser K100d. In it the author mentioned that the K100d would not let you take black and white photos at the time of capture but you could turn it black and white after the shot in the camera.
I was a little disappointed in this and I hope the K10D is not the same. Can anyone tell me if the K10D allows you to shot in black and white?
Thanks in advance.
4 AnswersCameras1 decade agoIs a Pentax DSLR a viable alternative to the Nikon/Canon dominance?
I have been looking for a lens system to go with for the long haul and I know Canon and Nikon pretty much lead in market share and equipment. I am currently leaning toward some Nikon products. But recently I have read some very interesting things about Pentax .
Apparently they design in some interesting features into their cameras that I like. And they seem to do so at a very competitive price. Dust and weather seals, Image Stabalization in the camera body, interesting programable features, and apparently a good selection of lenses. One magazine said that over 26 millon pentax lenses have been made. Of course, all of these wont fit the new DSLR's but that should still leave a lot to choose from.
Quick note..I know that IS in the body is not as good as IS in the lens but its almost as good and your not paying for it over and over with every lens purchase.
So please, anyone with knowledge of how Pentax stacks up to the rest please help. Do pro's ever use Pentax? If so, in what field?
7 AnswersCameras1 decade agoWill a Nikon D80 use any nikon lens?
I am wondering about the compatability of the nikon D cameras (80, 200, 300) with older nikon lenses. I have heard that nikon has not changed its lens mount (i think it is the F mount right?) since 1959. So I am wondering if I am walking around a flea market and I find an old nikon lens or two will they work on a D80. Can anybody help with this?
Thanks in advance.
3 AnswersCameras1 decade agoNikon DSLR users---D80 or D200?
Hi. I am starting to get serious about my photography and am currently using a Canon Rebel XT. I have decided to make the switch to Nikkon for the long term and I need some info on two of their cameras.
First let me say, please dont respond with the 'canon is better then nikkon' response. I have made the decision after much deliberation and Nikkon is the one for me.
Ok, serious Nikkon users please weigh in. My current budget allows me to get a D80 with a decent lens or a D200 with a slightly less decent lens. The D200 might have to be refurbished as well. As far as I can tell, the D80 is very close to the 200 in all its specs. Keep in mind my eventual long term goal is to get a D300. I will have to use the one I get now for a long time. More lenses will come but not for a little while.
So, is it worth spending the extra dosh on the 200 or not. I kinda want to get used to the larger size and weight of carrying it around. Pls help if you can. Oh, I have already read Kenrockwell.com.
5 AnswersCameras1 decade agoProjector advice- Sony BRAVIA VPL-AW15 vs. BenQ W500?
Hi. I am wondering if anyone has experiance with the following 2 projectors. I am deciding on which one to buy and would like to get some feedback from anyone who has owned or used either one. The price I can get them for is included as well.
Sony BRAVIA VPL-AW15 $1049.95
BenQ W500 Projector $949.99
As you can see, I can save about 100 bucks by going with the BenQ. But the Sony has a much better Contrast ratio.
Basicly, can give me any info on how they compare or any personal experiance from using them. Thx in advance.
1 AnswerHome Theater1 decade agolegal tender?
I dont know if this is the best place to ask this, but its the closest I could find to a legal system.
Verizon has recently told me that if I cancel my home phone and keep only my internet service with them then they will no longer be able to send me a paper bill. Instead, I would have to set up a credit card only payment with them. NOT a debit card. But only a credit card.
Frankly this is absurd. I have recently gotten around this by ordering their Cable TV service. Oddly enough, NOW they can send me a paper bill again.
My question is...is this legal. And more importantly, how do they get around the CASH issue. It is my understanding that money issued by the Federal Govt is "Legal tender for all debts, public and private". So, is it legal for an American company to sell a service to an American living in America and to tell me that they wont accept Federal currency?
Thanks in advance.
I have a credit card by the way, I just dont like to use it. Esp not for Verizon.

14 AnswersMotorcycles1 decade agoZX6E and ZZR600 owners?
Guys, Im thinking of getting the old ZX6E model (sold in usa its last few years as the ZZR600) as a cheap sport touring mount. I need to know if anyone uses this as a Sport Tourer and if you do take in on long rides then how is the vibration in the handlebars? I am getting older and having problems with my wrists so I need to know how this bike does on the long haul.
Oddly enough, I have owned one before but it was around 12 years ago and I never took it on really long rides, so I dont have a good memory of the vibration in the bars.
Oh, and I know the alternatives to this bike (older VFR, YZF600R, etc) but the ZX falls into my price and comfort catagories. I just need to know about vibration.
Any help would greatly be appreciated along with any links you may have to reviews of this model. I am familiar with ZX6E.net and the Sport Rider review. Anything else would be great. Thanks in advance.
2 AnswersMotorcycles1 decade agoCastle in Europe...can someone help?
I have seen pics of a castle that I think is in Europe that is built on some rocks and looks to be surrounded by water at high tide. But at low tide it is surrounded by sand. Does anyone know what and where this is?
