When is the best time to plant climbing roses?

    The best time is before spring starting in October. The roots need to develope to get prolific blooming.

    potted roses can be planted any time the soil can be worked.... spring is a good time, as is fall.... summer is hard on them because of the water needs and the fact that most roses 'slow down' in the high temperatures..... winter , in places where the soil doesn't freeze solid, is ok, too... bare-root roses should go in when they are shipped....

    Early fall planting would allow the roots longer to get established for a seasons growth, but spring would be my second choice.
