What products can I use to keep my hair cleaner longer?

I am white and black and have curly, poofy, frizzy, thick hair. I usually have to wash it every 3-4 days or so and it gets dandruff/itchy. When I go and get it straightened at the salon, I usually don't have to wash it (or it doesn't get itchy/dandruff) for a good two weeks or so. What products can I use the achieve this at home?

Buy your shampoo and conditioner at the hairdresser, and get the type your hairdresser recommends. Get a good 'hair oil' (ask your hairdresser for this, too) to keep the frizz and poof down, and when you do wash your hair, use only your palms to wash it, not the ends of your fingers to 'scrub' your scalp. That scrubbing is what causes both the dandruff and the greasy dirt you feel when you wash your hair. Brush your hair well before bed, and again in the morning, but get a 'soft bristle brush' to make it shine, not one to 'dig' at your scalp. I know that the stuff from salons is more expensive ... but if you use only a 'dime' size spot of the shampoo and conditioner, which is all you really need, your hair will stay clean longer, stay straightened longer, and will look better longer ... so the 'actual cost over time' will be much less. Change brands when you run out, too ... because hair gets 'used to' what is being used on it, and starts to 'react' to it so the change (at least once a year) is necessary to keep your hair looking good!

Maybe it would be best to wash your hair every 1-2 days to keep away the dandruff and try to use some anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner and go to a Professional hair saloon and ask them what products would be best to use on you hair. Or go to you local supermarket and buy some de-frizzing hair product.

    Good Luck :]

If you don't use as much product in your hair, it won't get greasy so fast. Also, you can try using a clarifying shampoo to get rid of build up which can make hair greasy. The green herbal essences one that clears build up, degunkify I think... works really well!

I haven't found any products to achieve that except to wash it everyday. You might try washing every other day. There is a dry shampoo you might try, but it may make your hair dryer. I'm sorry that I haven't been much help.

The next time you go to a hair salon, ask your hair stylist what kinds of shampoos you can use for your type of hair. Explain your problem to her and she will be happy to show you the hair products they have for sale!

    Hope this helps!! :]
