Just heard Obama may try to issue an executive order closing Guantanamo Bay today?
Have any bleeding heart liberals that want this know where they will go? Let me help ya with some possibilities.........
The new administration’s greatest challenge in closing the facility is what to do with the inmates the U.S. government believes are truly dangerous, but cannot be tried.
Many of the remaining 94 Yemeni inmates fall into this category. Obama is likely to reject a form of indefinite detention inside the U.S. – so where do these captives go? Since Al Qaeda has gained a foothold in Yemen, exemplified by the bombing of the U.S. embassy in Sanaa in September, there is fear about sending them home.
Then there are those from countries like Syria and Algeria who are cleared for release, but won’t be sent home due to fears they’ll be tortured or killed. Obama must accept these men in the U.S. or secure the co-operation of third nations.
ENJOY!! I'll bet most of you didn't know this was part of it! Maybe your neighbor will be one of these guys? Hope he doesn't accidentally blow it up making bombs or some chemical leaks into your hood!
are you serious about a source? get off Y!A and read a real newspaper or watch the news. There are NUMEROUS sources. Too many to list. WOW!!!

Stupidest move ever.
If other countries (including their home countries) refuse to accept any of these people, the US will be responsible for them according to international law and they WILL come to the US.... where they will automatically be given access to the civilian court system. This will likely lead to defined jail sentences or even no jail time at all... and they will most likely be asymilated into our society.... at least until they blow themselves up and take some innocent Americans with them.

Note - It is not all of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, but only the military prison at Guantanamo Bay which would be closed.
Also, the last I heard, the Executive Order would come soon, but did not actually close the prison for about 4 years (toward the end of Obama's first term (if he serves that long)).

That chris guy is obviously just a blind lib spouting out the usual ranting without knowing any facts.
The men imprisoned there aren't there because they didn't pay for their speeding tickets. Research what some of those poor innocent inmates have done.
Nothing good could possibly come from closing that place.

The talk is to move the ones that no one wants and that are more POW then political prisoner to places like Iraq and Afghanistan to prisons there. One thing that the left will not tell you is that our current courts are not set up to handle people who are guilt of crimes against America but all of the proof is overseas.

Source?
Of course not...because there is no credible source saying anything like that.
Please do enjoy your temporal "fame" here on the boards though. Your delusions are mighty...almost as mighty as your total absence of any political savvy or military expertise.
GITMO is an antiquated, nearly indefensible place...it is actually two places separated by a fairly decent body of water. You need to take a ferry to get from one side of the base to the other (yeah, I've actually been there). It is a relic of the Cold War...and we would really be well advised to shut it down. We have many very secure detention facilities here in the US. The only reason we keep the terrorist scum at GITMO is that it is easier to extradite them to another country from there than from here. Can you say habeus corpus? LOL
BTW, I am not a Val or a 12-year old, so I do not refer to my community as a "hood." A "hood" is a gangster or other miscreant. (oops, sorry..."miscreant" means bad guy.)
Source(s): EDIT FOR "THE REPUBLICAN": Well, THIS Republican still likes sources, largely because the ultra-right wackos make crap up all the time. Just because you've heard it a million times does not change its veracity. so, give me one of these unbiased, myriad sources. I will wait for a few minutes. The sources please? BTW, I bet you are either not of voting age, or you didn't actually vote. - 1 decade ago
LOL @ the guy above me asking for a source when this has been all over the news and out of Obama's own mouth for ages. Open a paper, man.
to Chris: the prisoners IN Gitmo represent torture and injustice. Eye for an eye.

Bush was trying to close it before then that's why he asked the Australian government to take some of the prisoners.

I say we turn them loose in Obama's Chicago neighborhood.
Maybe ui_chris has a few spare bedrooms in his house.

Wow, americans just cant stop lying, can they?
even funnier how you suggest infinitely imprisoning and torturing people without no real trial or evidence.
Time to paste that swastika on your flag
