Spelling... Don't you hate it when Y! tries to 'correct' your english spelling to the American version?

We speak english, not american. Why does Y! try to 'correct' my spelling when they are wrong?

    Colour = Color.

    Favourite = Favorite.

    Funnilly enough, Y! has just pointed out the 'typos' above.

    Because most people in America speak the American variant of English. You have to realize that most Americans don't speak straight English. I'm not saying that we don't know how to talk, it's just that we have almost created our own variant of English.

    No. American spelling was invented by a man called Noah Webster. The more I read about him the more I am interested. He had a particular hatred of pedantry, and so do I.

    Hey don't feel bad. We Americans have our own struggles with the spell check. It just seems to annoy everyone

    Honestly, it really doesn't bother me a bit. I just do it my way (Canadian). I ignore the spell check, when I know it's the other way here. EH!!!!
