Catholic church is the only true church of Christ and stood intact for 2 millenniums despite all the storms and some forming their own churches. As for the second reply, I would say, you are born from a womb which is your mother and turn around tell her that she's a whore. I would like correct that, she's a mother always. As for the protestants view, we don't give a damn what they think. They quote scripture from the Bible which was given to them by Catholics. Catholics go to Heaven and all others too that find refuge and salvation in Christ alone.

I am not religious now but I grew up with both religions, I can tell you how Evangelical Protestants feel about this:

According to them, Catholics don't emphasize the personal relationship with Jesus and the experience of the Holy Spirit; Catholics just follow rituals with no personal attachment. Jesus, for Catholics, is not an obsessive everyday lived experience.

So, because Evangelical Protestants strongly believe in accepting Jesus as your personal savior, and experience him in a real, personal way in every aspect of your life, consider Catholics as bad as Muslims. Straight to Hell!

Instead, for non practicing Protestants, it’s all Christianity with few variations.

    Yes.

Most non-Catholic Christian denominations accept Catholics as Christians. A very few do not.

The World Council of Churches which brings together more than 340 churches, denominations and church fellowships in over 100 countries and territories throughout the world, representing some 550 million Christians accepts the 1.1 billion Catholics as Christians. http://wcc-coe.org/wcc/who/faq-e.html#07

A dictionary would say that a Christian is someone professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.

    Catholics would fit this definition.

In the Nicene creed, from 325 C.E., Catholics profess:

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father.

Through Him all things were made.

For us and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried.

On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are baptized as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19, "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

We truly are spiritually "born again," we just don't usually use those words.

For a complete description of what Catholics believe, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/index.shtml

    With love in Christ.

There are quite literally over 30,000 Protestant denominations so it would really depend on the beliefs of a particular denomination. Some would say yes and others would say no. Thankfully, God is our judge and not Protestant denominations.

No one can judge who is to be saved or not, only Jehovah is the reader of hearts, and he will hand the judgement to Jesus. The Bible helps us to get to salvation, and that is by having Faith, and abiding by Gods Laws,if we are not doing these things can any of us expect to be saved?

Whew I am amazed at some of the arrogant answers given, maybe Matt 7:1-5, should be applied.

I assume you mean "Protestant" view point.

You have to understand that "Protestant" isn't a religion. A Protestant is merely anyone who "protests" Catholic dogma.

But if you mean CHRISTIANS when you say Protestants, Christians believe only what the Bible teaches in matters of faith, and one of the foundational beliefs of Protestant Christianity is that the Catholic religion is the Whore of babylon as foretold in the Bible. We believe that the "jesus" (eucharist) of Rome is not the same Jesus of the Bible, and that there is therefore no salvation in the religion of Rome.

Sadly, today's wishy washy mainstream "christianity" has forgotten the past and now views the Roman religion tobe Christian just because they use Christian terms.
