How long are you willing to ponder a queary to gain understanding regarding something you care about?

This is not meant to be a mental exercise or philosophy question. I am seeking understanding and knowledge. I'm trying to figure out what causes one person to consider and pause, while others will relatively quickly say I don't know or I don't understand. I hope my question was relatively clear. Please feel free to ask further questions in your answers for clarification if something doesn't make sense. Thank you and I hope all are well tonight. Take care.

It is all about the person concerned.

Each one is made differently. So one finds a different reaction to a situation or a Question. Each individual is unique; So reaction to it is also unique, typical to any one individual.

If I want to know something, I will work on it till it is solved; Or till I understand it. Till it works out.

But people around me, even from may family, may think it to be an utter waste of time. Or just give up.

I've spent most of my life being surrounded by people that have the problem of mouth engaging before brain. I rarely fall victim to this and always take my time to hear someone out in hopes of offering an intelligent informed response. It might take me days to answer unless I'm certain. Of course the subject matter has a great deal to do with response time also. Great question :)

As long as it takes, which can be a lifetime. Some people are just more prone to seeking wisdom or understanding on a matter, where some will give up. I guess that's why some are philosophers, and theologians, and some are more prone to watching TV or playing video games all the time.

It depends on how adamantly I feel about the subject. Some things I will ponder very deeply for long periods of time, taking time out occasionally to go to the bathroom, of course. Other things, I will give thought to as mere diversions.

either way, if the subject is important enough to me, I will think on it until I have an answer, one way or another.

Different things are worth pondering to different people. What you drop your jaw at people walking away from may mean nothing to another but something equally fascinating to them might mean nothing to you. It's all down to interests, curiosity and passions I think.
