can i get monetary damages?
i am currently in a dispute with direct tv they made an unauthorized charge to my debit card.which put me in a negative balance with the bank.. i had to cover those charges until it is finished and being on a fixed income all my other bills are going to be late no money left out of my paycheck can i get punitive damages from direct tv or compensatory fees

No, chances are you cannot get punitive damages. Punitive damages generally require the defendant to have deliberately or recklessly harmed you. You haven't said anything that suggests this is true.
The bank fees would be "consequential damages." If DirectTV has acknowledged that the charge is unauthorized, you should be able to negotiate with them to recover the fees. The costs of suing to recover those fees would be greater than the fees themselves, so you probably will want to just write a letter.

You gave them access to your bank account, so you gave them permission to do this. You can write corporate head quarters requesting that they refund these fees to you, but if they refuse, the courts will not order them to repay you. This is why you should never give your banking information to another business.

well if you talk to your bank and explain the mix up they might refund some of those charges. happened to me once and I explained it to the bank and I got refunded.
