What should I do for a sore Achilles tendon?
I have been running outside for about a year and a half now and I've never had a problem with my achilles tendon. A few weeks ago I joined a gym do to changes in schedule. Running on the treadmill is, to me, way easier than running outside. The first time I ran on the treadmill I think I over did it. I ran faster than outside, for a longer period and I also did some sprinting and running on minor inclines. Now, my achilles tendon is sore after I run. I don't run everyday, usually every other day. I'm really bummed because I don't want this to start being an on going problem. Mainly because I'm athletic and I don't want to stop running, I love it. I have hopes to run a 10k someday, but how can I do that when after running 3 miles my achilles tendon is sore. What can I do to heal it, and is there anything else you can recommend?
staying off of it is not an option, because I have 3 kids. I cannot take ibuprofen because I'm being treated for an ulcer. It doesn't hurt to walk on it, it's just sore after I run for about a day or so.

I would first stay off of it for a while. take an anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen and wrap it in an ace bandage to support the weight.
alternate between hot and cold compress every few hours.
