What should I do for a sore Achilles tendon?
I have been running outside for about a year and a half now and I've never had a problem with my achilles tendon. A few weeks ago I joined a gym do to changes in schedule. Running on the treadmill is, to me, way easier than running outside. The first time I ran on the treadmill I think I over did it. I ran faster than outside, for a longer period and I also did some sprinting and running on minor inclines. Now, my achilles tendon is sore after I run. I don't run everyday, usually every other day. I'm really bummed because I don't want this to start being an on going problem. Mainly because I'm athletic and I don't want to stop running, I love it. I have hopes to run a 10k someday, but how can I do that when after running 3 miles my achilles tendon is sore. What can I do to heal it, and is there anything else you can recommend?
2 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoThis is driving me crazy!?
I am a mother of 3 children. Their ages are almost 3, 5 and 7. My 5 year old is a girl and when she was 2-3 she never gave me a problem when it came to clothes. My youngest daughter is 2, almost 3. She wants to change her clothes about 4-5 times a day. She say, "I want to wear something else." Then she will take off her clothes and want me to change her clothes. That's not the part that bothers me the most. The part that is driving me crazy is that everything I take out of her drawer she says "no" to. I've gotten to the point where I tell her that when she knows what it is she wants to put on she can tell me, otherwise she can walk around with her panties on. Sometimes I just put something on her and if it's not what she wants she has a complete melt down. This is seriously stressing me out because it's a continuous battle of the wills. I don't care if she changes her clothes, it's the fact that she's never satisfied and I'm dealing with so many melt downs. How can I make this easier? Please give me suggestions if you have children who have done this.
4 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoDo you have any good ideas?
On March 14th I will be turning 38 and my youngest daughter will be turning 3. Yes, she was born on my birthday. While I'm more than happy that we share a birthday I don't want to completely ignore the fact that it's my birthday too. I feel like while she's young she will obviously take priority. I'm going to have family over on the night of our birthday for her "party", nothing major. She gets overwhelmed when too many people are around all at once. What can I do with my husband, or my immediate family to celebrate "my" day as well. Something simple but enjoyable. My first idea was to go camping, but we don't have a trailer. We sleep in a tent and in March it's pretty cold at night so that's out. Any ideas?
1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWhat the heck should I do?
Last Wednesday I had some 5 day old Tuna Casserole for lunch. It was hot when I hate it and tasted fine. An hour or two after I ate it I started getting a mild pain in my upper stomach right under my breast bone. The pain got worse and spread into my left side under my rib cage. It was excruciating! I hurt when I would take a deep breath and I couldn't lay down without pain and shortness of breath. I took some acidopholus and drank some aloe vera juice the next day and by the next day(36 hours after it started) I felt better. Now, one week later it's back. I ate some spicy tacos last night and by this morning the pain was back. I don't have health insurance. I want to be seen by a doctor but I will have to go sit at the County Hospital for hours. I'm 37 years old and am a runner. I don't smoke and don't have a history of heart disease so it's unlikely it's a heart attack. Has anybody experienced this before. I did some research on it and it could be a number of things. Should I just suck it up and go sit in the ER forever to be seen by a doctor?
2 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoExtended Breastfeeding question?
Please no comments from the peanut gallery. My daughter is a little over 2-1/2 and we've been down to 1 or 2 nursings a day. (bedtime and around 5 in the morning. Sometimes it's not every day. I would be so happy if she never asked for it again, but she's still hangin on. Anyway, she actually went 2 days without asking and then this morning she asked. I've breastfed 3 kids now so I should know this answer. However, my middle daughter was 2 years exactly when we stopped so this is a little different. Is she even getting anything? I never feel any sort of let down and my breasts are totally soft and small like they used to be before kids. (not quite as perky though :( ) So is she even getting anything is my question? Thanks for the supportive answers.
5 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoI have an intuition about my toddler?
I wrote in last night mentioning that my toddler has broken out in hives 2 times in the past 2 weeks. I can't seem to pinpoint anything different. The only common denominator is she has had a virus both times. I have an intuition though and have done some research on it. Apparently I'm not the only mother that feels this may be the case. She is two and a half years of age and has not cut her 2 year molars yet. She's constantly chewing on things in the back of her mouth and has been running an intermittent low grade temp. I am starting to lean toward the fact that the unexplained hives are caused by the teething of her molars. Research says that a certain percentage of the population gets hives, and out of that percentage, 90% of the time it's unexplained. I've talked to many moms of toddlers and preschoolers who have had this problem and not been able to identify it. I ruled out laundry, lotions. I seriously don't think it's food because it's never the same thing that causes the hives. I'm really starting to believe it's the teething of her 2 year molars, and or the cold/cough she's been experiencing. Has anyone experienced this?
2 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoWhat's causing my 2 year old daughters' hives?
Two weeks ago my daughter broke out into hives all over her body. I thought at first it was something she ate, but then figured out the rash started the night before so if couldn't have been that food. She had just gotten over a cold/mild fever virus. I couldn't think of any particular food that would have caused them. After a few days that went away. Now, 2 weeks later she breaks out again. I'm going out of my mind because I have no clue as to what could have caused them. She's been coughing for several days at night, but no fever or any other cold symptoms. I use fragrance free everything including detergent and softener sheets due to my other daughters' allergies and eczema. Has anyone else experienced this and not been able to figure it out?
7 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoHow do I lose this belly?
I'm not overweight and I run on a regular basis, as well as some resistance training when I can. I have a belly pooch that I cannot get rid of. I don't necessarily want to lose weight because I'm happy with that. How do I lose inches on my belly and around my waist? I'm a mom of 3. I don't believe in weird diets, but if you know of something that will work, please share. Thx.
3 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoHas anybody tried natural products or natural remedies?
for there child's allergies (nasal). Did they work? If so what were they. My 5 year old daughter has allergies and she's been taking zyrtec. I've read some bad stuff about coming off of it and the side effects of it. I've decided to take her off of it because I've seen some of the side effects in her. My doctor prescribed Flonase, I researched it and I don't want to give her that either. How can she get relief from her allergies without all the side effects?

If there is no God, or Jesus, then do you wonder why you are here and what your purpose is and where you are going when you die? Be serious.

As a Christian, is there something wrong with me doing Yoga and doing the little chants and mantra's that they do during the class? I know that my heart is with Jesus Christ, I just don't want to be doing something I shouldn't be doing spiritually and not even realize it....
30 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoPick my brain?
I am 37 years old with 3 children. I'm married and have a basically normal life, whatever that means. I am a Christian, so my question is revolving around that as well. I have this wierd desire to get a tatoo! Why? I have never liked them on white girls....(like me) My husband likes the small of my back, although he has no tatoos. What do you think? Is is wrong in God's eyes.
8 AnswersOther - Arts & Humanities1 decade agoHow do I deal with this? I need to vent....?
I am married with 3 children. My husband smokes, quite a bit. Not in the house, but he has smoked since we met. Ever since we had our first child I have begged him to quite. My oldest has asthma, reason enough you would think....No. His dad had a heart attack 6 years ago and is ok. Both of his parents smoked all their lives only to quit a few years ago. His mother was diagnosed with lung cancer in December of 2007, they caught it early so she's fine. Reason enough to quit.....No. He's always bitching at me about saving money here and there. I tell him to think about how much he would save if he quit smoking. He just gets irritated when I throw that back in his face. I am so frustrated and angry that there are so many reasons for him to quit, but he won't. I fear that he will die before he should and will break our hearts. I know that I have no control and that he has to do it for himeself, but I'm over that crap. Do it for your kids already. How do I deal, I'm angry....
20 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoLadies, I need recommendations for a great mascara....?
I currently use MAC, however I'd like to find one under $10.00. I have average lashes, not very long. I want a mascara that won't clump, flake, or smudge. I want it to seperate my lashes and lengthen them a little. What mascara do you love? Please advise.
Thanks everyone.
15 AnswersMakeup1 decade agoI got stung by a bee today....?
I think I've stepped on a bee before, but probably over 15 years ago. I got stung by my shoulder blade this morning. My question is, how long is the pheromone released into the air from the bee sting? If I go out again today, am I still giving off the pheromone that might attract other bees to me? I don't want to get stung again. If the pheromone is still being released the bees might react? I've researched it and cannot seem to find the answer to this question. Forgive my ignorance, this is my first real bee sting. Thanks
7 AnswersFirst Aid1 decade agoRunning and weight advice please.?
I have been running consistently now for about 6 months. I run an average of 3 days per week, about 3-3 1/2 miles. When I can I'll run 4 days. It's hard though because I have 3 kids and a busy schedule. Anyway, I noticed that I'd lost about 5 to 7 pounds since I started running, and that's ok. I do not want to continue losing weight because I am 5'4 and weigh about 118-120. I eat, all the time and try to fit in weights once or twice a week (at home).
So, how do I continue running and toning, but not lose any more weight? Running is a release of stress for me so it's really not an option to stop unless un-forseen circumstances forced me to. Please advise. Thank you.

4 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoWhy take the chance, would you?
So I was talking to a mom friend today at my son's school. She has 3 children ages 1, 4, and 6. She was picking up her 6 year old. She said her 4 year old was on a play date. I asked her if her husband was watching her 1 year old and she said no, that he was working. She said her 1 year old had a fever and was crying so she put him to bed. She didn't want to wake him so..... she left him home, alone in his crib sleeping while she came to pick up her son. I said her name in disbelief and she said it was only 15 minutes. Would you ever do that? There are so many "what ifs". Is is really worth the risk. I am just in shock...

I need to know where I can go to get a good pair of jeans that fit. I'm thin and not real curvy so it's hard to find a good pair. After having three children and working out, I've lost weight so my jeans are so baggy. I feel frumpy and would like a pair that are sexy and sleek. Any advice?
