I just smile and say thank you.
I hate it when people deny it, someone is trying to be nice, just shut up and take it.

Well I've never received an honest compliment because I have nothing worth complimenting! So when someone compliments me I politely ask them not to make fun of me!

You could say thank you and leave it at that. Usually when you deny it they compliment you again and try to convince you that you deserved the compliment.

Thank you is the polite thing to say. It can really hurt a person's feelings to deny compliments. And if it doesn't hurt their feelings, it will just annoy them.

I used to deny it when I was in the ninth and tenth grade because in middle school I was a nerd and picked on
now I just smile and say thanks and find something on the other person to compliment

Sometimes I ask if they were being sarcastic, or I just say thank you and try to give a compliment back.

I smile and just kind of laugh. Compliments make me uncomfortable for some reason.

I say "Thank you" and then instead of dwelling on the subject, I change it; often by offering a compliment in exchange.
