Is the beta version of Windows 7 any good?

Windows Vista is horrible and I hear that Windows 7 may be better. I am just a little reluctant to download it to try it out.

So fsr so good. For me it is about he same as VISTA.

I have no complaints with VISTA and none with W7 either.

    Both are fine systems.

Just remember it is a beta and not to be used as a permenant OS because it is prone to crashes an won't work after July 1st....or Aug 1st depending on who you beleive.

I am running Windows 7 Beta right now.

I have never used Vista before nor have I ever seen it. I understand from using the beta Win7 that it is very much like Vista but has been supposedly streamlined to be more efficient so as to load faster and not be a resource hog.

Now I have been using Win-XP Media center edition on my Dell XPS M170 Laptop for the past 3 yrs. Well that is the laptop I have installed Windows 7 Beta on, and it runs as good as XP if not better. So far I have been using it for 1 wk and there is some software that came with my laptop (proprietary) that I had some trouble with at first, but I am now running all software on Windows 7 as I was on XP. And the best

thing is, I can still play COD2.

    Hello SoCal Attorney-

My name is Jeff and I work alongside the Windows Outreach Team. It seems that you need a little help deciding whether or not to go ahead and give Windows 7 Beta a try. Because I do not know your experience level with computers, let me make a few suggestions for reading material to check out. After you look at these pages you should have a good idea if the Windows 7 Beta is right for you.

The first is the Win7 Beta FAQ page: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/beta-fa... (Internet Cop, your latter date is correct. The Beta stops working Aug. 1)

The second is the Installation Instruction page: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/beta-in...

And the last is Gizmodo’s coverage of Windows 7 Beta: http://i.gizmodo.com/5136781/gizmodos-complete-win...

    Cheers!

    Jeff

windows vista WAS horrible, now that it has sp1 and some other updates it is better (if you have enough ram) i have the beta and i love it. but if you really want to try it out, just d/l the iso and virtualpc, and run it in virtual pc.
