Yes... kind of. It doesn't have any magic ingredients, it's just cold.

Put anything else in the freezer then take it out and place it against your throat (with the exception of a knife please) and it'll do the same job.

It just numbs the pain temporarily.

However, to prove a point, take the ice cream out the freezer let it melt and turn to Temperature, it's still what it was before but doesn't help your throat.

Anything cold is normally great for a fever. It helps bring down your temperature. But ice cream is full of fat and unhealthy calories. I recommend switching to cold yogurt or popsicles or something that is not quite as heavy of a substance so that you can still get your sweet fix and benefit your sore throat.

It tends to make you feel better because you are eating something that is exhilarating to your taste buds and it does numb the pain with the cold. The question is what flavor do you want to help cure your sore throat.?

for me ice cream makes my sore throat less swollen but I can run out of voice and being unable to utter any sound (this happens either with very cold and very hot things)

when i was small i had my tonsils removed some 57 years ago. and they gave you ice cream to cool your throat, i do not think things have changed that much

nope it only acts as temporary relief and is "supposed" to cool down the swelling. but as someone already said, when you finish eating it, your sore throat is still there.

No - I've tried it and it doesn't, tempory relief only. When you stop eating it your sore throat is still there.

    Medicine works though.

I think it helps temporarily, but it won't cure it.

Yes, it would cool it down if it was inflamed :)
