What kind of car is Lightning McQueen from the Disney movie "Cars"?
I have seen this question asked on here before and was not satisfied with the answers, so I have to ask again, hoping that there may be more knowledgeable people on here now. No offense to anyone. I have seen several websites saying that he is no certain kind of car, and I am just wondering what all the rest of you think about that. 10 points for whoever is thinking along the same lines I am!
I know most people think that it is just a made up drawing the Pixar people came up with, but look at all the detail put into "Doc Hudson's" character. Paul Newman was the voice. Paul Newman used to be into racing. He once starred in a movie named "Hud". And the car in the movie "Cars" had blue eyes, just like Paul Newman. Also, the "female" car that Lightning ends up falling for is a Porsche. It says so right in the movie. And she looks completely like a Porsche. So it doesn't make sense to me that McQueen would be "just some made up cartoon". Think about it!

I am thinking its obviously some kind of NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) and since NASCAR's are mainly custom built machines: "Today, NASCAR race cars have very little in common with street cars. Almost every detail of a NASCAR car is handmade. The bodies are built from flat sheet metal, the engines are assembled from a bare block and the frame is constructed from steel tubing."
I am thinking even though they are all custom that its a Chevy since Chevy has had the most wins in NASCAR history. Plus in the past many of Chevys cars in NASCAR have been red (http://www.actiondiecast.com/DEjr_07Budweiser.jpg)
So since Chevy has won most NASCAR races and many of the winning cars have been red I say its a GM firebird or Chevy monte carlo. Monte Carlo being the 1st choice. I think Lightning is a Dodge Viper. When he and Sally are at the Wheel Well Motel she says she fell in love. Lightning asks if it was with a Corvette, suggesting competition btwn he and that make/model.

he is based on the C6 Chevrolet Corvette ( 6the generation ). And that model was in production from 2005 to 2013. In fact the sixth generation Corvette is the first with exposed headlamps since the 1962 model.

I beleive this is a mopar sweep. The king is clearly a superbird, chick hicks, is a 78 dodge magnum and lightening being the kid is likely a nascar version of the avenger not the viper.

He is a Chevrolet corvette. Specifically he is modeled after a 1960s era. While it is more rounded than the corvette itself, if you look at the paint job he receives in radiator springs it is an iconic corvette look. Specifically the 1956/7.

I don't think he is a certain kind of car. Pixar just drew a car. There's no logo on it--he's a very unique car.
