How do I keep dog from putting garbage in my bed?

Whenever my husband and I leave the home, our dog digs in the garbage and places various things in our bed. She is not allowed to sleep in our bed, and she has her own bed that she does not put garbage in. Do you know how I can get her to stop? She is three years old, and the habit seems to be getting worse, Any help would be appreciated!

Look into crate training her. That would be the safest for her, and much less worry for you. Sounds like she also needs more attention.

Can you put the garbage elsewhere, or keep your bedroom door closed?

Try to take your dog for a walk before you leave her so she is tired and not bored, looking for something to do/ Put your garbage can outside or in cupboard where she cannot get to it.

Take control of this situation before if gets worse. Dogs sometimes develop quirky little habits, it is usually through boredom.

I hope this helps you and best wishes

First of all I would put the trash can in a place where the dog cannot get to it. Then keep the dog out of your room by closing the door.

Lock the garbage can up, close your bedroom door or put her in a crate when you are gone.

one of three things you can do: a) try putting cayenne pepper on your trash in hopes that it will burn your dog's mouth to the point where they dont' do it again, b) put the trash can on the counter or something or, c) get a metal trash can that has the foot lever to raise the lid that will make it too heavy for the dog to get into.

sorry, but your dog is so funny, when i first moved next door to my mom, her dogs adored me & always brought presents (usually dead rodents & parts of roadkill) to my door. they did not stop for a long time (years)
