Special Education and special needs are different. Special Education is for the student who has trouble with a subject and needs extra help. Special needs is special education but refers to those children who have autism, down syndrome... Please don't use the words mentally retarded.

You are right but most of the questions that are not on those topics seem to be from people in other countries that don't understand or know that Special Education is related to students who need remediation for disibilities, learning or physical.

No, this is what is is supposed to be for.

But Yahoo! is not enforcing its own prohibition against miscatgorization/spam. It is letting this particular category be a 'dumping ground' for anything and everything.

This is frustrating for myself and other people who DO know that special education is for people with disabilities.

It undercuts the quality environment which we are interested in maintaining.

It depends on the severity. I had a friend with learning disabilities and a speech imparment who was very slow in school but worked hard and at one point was even in honor classes. He stuck with school got his associates degree and is now a respiratory therapist at a hospital making 60grand a year.

If you can read you can do anything!
